The Scene – The interior is dramatic, with 12-foot-tall translucent curtains dividing the dining room and numerous accents vying for attention: colorful art glass, candelabra and bamboo plants. Caramel-hued wooden chairs and floors give the space a warm glow. Clientele is largely 30- and 40-something professionals, enjoying expense-account lunches by day and dinners by night. Cocktail drinkers gravitate toward a full bar that's handsomely appointed with mirrors and pendulum-hung spotlights. – – The Food – The extensive menu offers sushi and "Japanese and Indochine"…
Excellent food, upscale feel
by youngdan63 at Citysearch
I met a date at Steel a couple of weeks ago, at her recommendation. It was my first visit and I was impressed. The restaurants decor is upscale and beautiful. I ordered the Shaken Beef, she had the Lemongrass Chicken and we shared an appetizer of the Sea Bass. All three were excellent, however I have to say that my Shaken Beef was the best of the three. The dinner and drink menu is a bit pricey, so factor that into your plans. I understand they have free shushi every Wednesday starting at 5:30. Also, their iced tea was the best I've ever had. There is a definite taste of cinnamon in it. Overall a great venue.
- Pros: Food, atmosphere
- Cons: Pricey
WE DID NOT LIKE THIS PLACE, WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK...
by Laanhi at Citysearch
Me and my girlfriends showed up - there were all these seats, and they said they were all reserved, wtf? I've never been treated like this before by a bunch of "greeters" who obviously lack people skills. The bar was open so we tried to order drinks and were wondering when their "buffet" was going to open up - they said it was already being served and we were surprised with how unappetizing it appeared...going back to the drinks, the bartender gave us our drinks but we couldn't order any food because it seemed like nobody wanted to take our orders...what's up with this place? I hated it and do not recommend this type service for anyone - and the decor is so very 90's. YUCK!
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Everything, including parking and entrance
Best Sushi Restaraunt in Dallas
by 084430 at Citysearch
If you are ready for an absolutely killer sushi evening, this is your place. The quality and variety of the sushi is top notch, and the presentation superb. They have a decent sake list as well. The wait staff were friendly, and I really didn't mind the extra 15 minute wait for my table on a Saturday night as the bar never seems to lack interesting characters. Probably the best sushi in Dallas, beating out Nobu and Teppo. Can't wait to go back.
- Pros: Quality of food, service, nice neighborhood
- Cons: a little pricey
