As my friend was moving out of Dallas permanently went to dinner for final get to gather with other friends. since my friend haven't been to MAYURI during his short stay we had decided to go there on Monday evening. I have to say it was the worst tasteless Indian food i have had and the opinion was mutual across other attendee's.The menu was extremely overpriced for the quantity served ...especially we ordered MAYURI special chicken which was full of onions and the goat biranyi and curry was not cooked properly..wanted to complain regarding food to the waiter but he did not come to our table since the food had been served . Finally when waiter came to our table we complained about taste of food and he did not answer back to us.. when asked about manager waiter claimed there no manager available at that time..I have to say this restaurant had the worst service we have came across. Our Tab was around $90 for four and we all felt like there was no taste in food. I strongly recommend anyone not to go this place on special occasions or matter of fact any occasions..I promise that will be that will be the last time me or my friends will go there to eat.
Great place. great place to eat if your in Dallas.
One of the worst Indian Restaurant. Mayuri is one of the worst restaurant I have eaten in US. The food is not fresh and is not prepared well. They also takes lot of time to serve. I will never go to this place again.
No need to head east to Dallas : Best Lunch Buffet. The practical Indian/American (almost came out American Indian!) dilemma - if the lunch buffet is so good, who's goes for dinner? WITHOUT Mayuri, once in awhile you have to have a fresh cooked a la carte dinner, where the spices and prep (and hopefully ambiance) just take you away and calms the exotic palette. Enter Mayuri, where the lunch buffet is delightful - fresh (maybe high turnover), and always seems to have at least two extra/more selections then the upscale-ish DFW competition. Proably a buck higher then second-best-buffet ( the Pasand's), but well worth it. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDIAN RESTAURANT !
Never again!. I agree with other reviews about their take out orders. I recently ordered take out for about 20 people. When i went to pick it up(on time), most of the items were cold and didnot seem fresh. When I enquired politely, they were rude and suggested that it will be ok if i take it home and heat it!
Good South Indian food - decent rates.
Mayuri is primarily a South Indian restaurant and to that extent, their south Indian offerings are good. I would strongly suggest staying away from their north Indian offerings, till the time you are used to eating North Indian food cooked in South Indian way, with South Indian flavor and spices.
The buffet is a mess, since tons of people show up. Ordering from menu is the best option. With quite a few South Indian options around, Mayuri should actually drop its prices a little bit since they dont offer anything out of the ordinary. The whole experience of dining with them is simply average - from quality of food, to service to sitting arrangement to decor etc.
One major drawback is that during peak time, you can have a bunch of people sitting right next to you, and with no music being played, there is no privacy. You can also hear the clinkering noise of the forks and spoons etc.
Overall an average place to visit.
decent food, horrible service!. I am not surprised to see another bad review about To Go orders. We are regular customers at Mayuri and they did accept our catering order (to be picked up) for about 13 people. The food was to be picked up at sharp 11 am for an office party. I confirmed this with the manage/owner when I personally went there to place the order, so no telephone conversation confusions...I even asked if I needed to call to remind them on the day of the pick-up, they said no need. I still called at 10.45, no body there was even aware of my order, I kept calling and finally went there at 11.15 to see what's happening. After waiting for another 15 min, finally I got the food. What surprised (?) me the most was that the owner/manager did not even have the curtsey to come out and apologies, forget about offering any discount on the cash only payment! He would not even talk to me even when I specifically asked to talk to him. Needless to say, I was highly embarrassed to be late to the party and keep everyone waiting for food! Won't recommend it to anyone anymore....
Bad food and horrible customer care..
Horrible Indian chinese [never try any thing from indian chinese part], sloggy food.
Too much interventon of verbose waiters....
Food was stale too, had problems next day ..will NEVER recommend
Best place in Dallas. My exp with Mayuri is excellent. I dont agree with the previous reviews !! I did my daughter first birthday party and I had around 75 guest, even thou i ordered only vege food every body loved the food and so many went to mayuri because of the good taste. I agree when you go the resturant some time the nan quality will not be good some times....but the curries, dosa etc u cant compare with any other resturants in dallas !! We love going there again and again.
Forget abt Indian Resatuarant - Its Worst among all The restaurants.
I have been to Mayuri - Houston and moved to Irving recently. With impression I had with Mayuri Houston, I just went to Mayuri - Irving.
Wow!!! what a horrible food, there was nobody sitting in the restaurant, I was a bit suspecious. But all my doubts were proved when I served few things from the buffet served by this restaurant. None of the food item was cooked on that day, each and every item was served from the left over of a day before.
There was a huge pile of Naan in the buffet but all of them were taken out from the freezer and applied some warm butter on that. I asked for the fresh Naan, I was told that "They are very busy". Even me and my family were the only guest dining in the restaurant.
Please don't even think to go there, you will spoil your day.!!!!
