Sarah is wonderful!. I first met Sarah through a friend and had originally contacted her because I was interested in possibly starting a career in the medical world. Initially I got in touch with Sarah to discuss the different responsibilities of a physician assistant, amount of schooling, etc. So, our initial relationship was stricting a teacher-learner type relationship. Well, it wasn't too long after that that I came down with an absolutely terrible respiratory virus. Bent tree was the only office I could get in to, and, of course, I chose to see Sarah since I felt like I kind of already knew her from our previous conversations. Let me tell you, best decision ever! I have enjoyed so much having Sarah as my primary care provider. I completely trust her and have 100% confidence in her medical knowledge and ability to help me make the best decisions regarding my health. I can count on her to be very honest and always tell me exactly how she feels or what she thinks about a certain situation, in a very respectful way, of course. She has excellent bedside manner and sincerely listens to everything you have to say. She is never rushed and she never gives me the feeling that I am just another patient she has to get through super fast so she can go on to the next. I absolutely love having someone that is as equally and fully invested in my health as I am. I couldn't imagine ever switching to a different primary care provider.

Sarah Gagliano is a true BLESSING!. Sarah Gagliano is one of the most outstanding, compassionate and caring individuals I know, AND we are lucky enough that she is our physician!

Over ten years ago my daughter ran head first into a goal post while playing soccer. We arrived at Bent Tree a few minutes after they closed. Sarah, who was just starting at that time, welcomed us in and did a thorough exam of my child. Sarah could have easily sent us to an emergency clinic because they were officially closed for the day, but because she is so caring she took the time to alleiviate both my fears as well as my daughter's.

Five years ago I was diagnosed with a major illness. Sarah was instrumental in making this diagnosis. She was an incredible supporter during my treatment and still is! Sarah has always listened and valued my opinion regarding all of my health concerns. She takes the time to really get to know her patients. In this day and age of rush, rush, rush this is invaluable!

My family is so blessed to have Sarah Gagliano as our physician!

Sarah Gagliano is my Physician for life. I have been seeing Sarah Gagliano for a number of years. I am diabetic, have high blood pressure, and a number of other things. Sarah provides the best care, advice and support of any physician I have ever visited. She goes above and beyond what any other physician would do and her intuition is always dead on.

Make Sarah your physician and you cannot go wrong.

Can I rely on a doctor younger than me? Yes, Sarah Gagliano. About 10 years ago we moved to Frisco so I had to find a new doctor. After 6 years of bouncing from one to another I hadn't found the one I was looking for, so I just walked in Bent Tree and said I needed a new doctor, who could see me first? The receptionist said I could see Sarah Gagliano PA, if I could come back at 4:30, so that I did. I had never seen a doctor younger than me so at first I was very skeptical. After describing my many conditions (diabetes, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure) and discussing their complexities, I knew I had found the one. She listened, she understood, and most importantly, she cared. I felt at home with her. Now all my various ailments are under outstanding control and to boot, I've lost more than 20 pounds! Thanks Sarah!!

She is all I want and need for a primary health care provider (she's my doctor even though technically she is a PA).

Bent Tree is a Blue Ribbon family clinic!

Why settle for anything less than the best?

Bent Tree Family Physicians-They Care. My daughter came home Thursday night after a sporting event feeling ill. I called her doctor, Guy Culpepper, M.D. at Bent Tree Family Physicians, Friday morning. It was great that they did not make me wait until 9 am. to make an appointment, like our previous doctor's office. They were able to get her in before lunch. I just want to say thank you to Dr. Culpepper for being thorough and running all the tests needed to get an accurate diagnosis so he could prescribe an effective medication. My children love coming to him and are never scared to tell him what’s bothering them. I highly recommend this practice to all ages! The girls at the front desk were friendly, unlike a lot of offices I have visited and the nurse that took us back was very friendly, as well. You will not be disappointed.

Sarah Gagliano - Bent Tree Family Physicians. We just love Sarah Gagliano. She has been our family doctor since 2001. She is professional, caring, understanding, and most of all she is not just a doctor but a friend.

She truly cares and makes our visits to the clinic a pleasure. You can't find a better person who loves her job and her patients.

If you are looking for a Family Physician...Keep Looking!. Summary: Do your family a favor and don't settle for Bent Tree Family Physicians or Dr. Amy Latta, where you are not a patient...you're a customer. From outrageous fees to discouraging patient questions, this practice is not the place for caring parents with young children. I recommend you find a doctor that will take after-hours calls for sick children, will encourage parents to participate in the health decisions of their children, and that will provide your medical records when requested.

Everything you are about to read is true. I confirmed the fee schedule with a Bent Tree employee to make sure I would be quoting facts.

Last year, my family moved from Austin to Plano. When my wife found Bent Tree Family Physicians, we went ahead and had our Austin doctor transfer our medical records. Of course, this record transfer was free, as this is part of our Austin doctor taking care of her patients. Our 2 year old son tends to get sick during the winter and that is when reality set in.

Let's talk about unreasonable fees. They charge a $25.00 fee for any after hours call. What that what? I have never heard of a family practice charging for after hours emergencies. I called my insurance provider; she had never heard of charging for calls either and thought I had to be mistaken. With a 2 year old, I don't want to be debating on whether to call our family physician for help. (Note: I confirmed this fee is for any call, no exceptions.) Patients deserve better.

Let's talk about quality of care. Sure, you get what you pay for. Sure, I will stomach these fees to get the best care in the area. Well, here the rules of the free economy do not apply. Every time I have been to see a Bent Tree doctor, the doctor had a quick conversation about why we were there, took a few readings (blood pressure, looked in an ear or two) and then made the diagnosis. Nothing too shocking here, as doctor offices are volume driven. What was shocking was the fact that we were passed to the RN for any questions. After the diagnosis, the RN comes in with scripts and recommendations. I guess the thought is that customers don't have questions. Patients deserve better.

Let's talk about respect for the patient. If the office is running an hour behind, and they know it, they should at least respect the patient enough to inform them they are behind at check in. After waiting an hour after our scheduled appointment time with a sick 2 year old, I was equally unimpressed with the lack of apology or explanation. Patients deserve better.

And, finally, back to fees. Even more egregious is the fee they charge to leave. Being good parents, we realized that we could not continue taking our child (or the one on the way) to this practice. They deserve better. My wife found a better run practice, where you are a patient and a person, and called Bent Tree to have them transfer our son's medical records to the new doctor. My mouth hit the floor when I was told it was a base fee of $25.00 with $0.50 for each page after the first 20. No other doctor has ever imposed this fee. Certainly under HIPPA, this is illegal, right? Nope. Under Texas Administrative Code Title 22, Part 9, Chapter 165, Rule 165.2 they are charging the maximum they legally can. It would be illegal for them to charge $25.01. Well played Bent Tree, just 1 penny shy of legally being criminals. The icing on the cake was when Dr. Amy Latta told us she couldn't waive the fee because we were switching doctors. She didn't even make an effort to hide the fact that they wanted one last dip into my bank account. I would have respected her more if she hit me in the back of the head and just took my wallet.

Patients deserve better.

Healthcare is the first priority. Bent Tree Family Physicians actually has a dramatically reduced fee schedule for cash paying patients. But it is not free. And the expectations of patients like jennifer5478 are leading to the shortage of primary care physicians. Let's address several of her complaints:

"Extended visits" do cost more from any physician. As she noted, a severe infection involving a more complex history, multiple symptoms, exam and tests has to be billed slightly higher to keep simpler office visits less expensive. Imagine if you scheduled a haircut but added color and a permanent it would cost more.

She was "re-infected" 1 month later. Was it the same illness? Not likely 3-4 weeks later. Remember she said she had a "severe" infection. Recurrence usually is something different, or even a sign of a more serious problem. A good physician must reassess. Ask any lawyer.

As to just "call in an antibiotic". Inappropriate antibiotic use has created dangerous resistance. And as to a "$4 harmless Rx", there is No harmless Rx.

The "charge for prescription refill" is never with an office visit; instead it is a small convenience fee to cover overhead when a patient needs a service but can't come in to the office. Most patients never need this when they schedule regular office visits. The after hours telephone consult fee is used by most physicians. Imagine the fee if you called your attorney or accountant at 3 AM. And there is no "consultation charge" during office hours, you are just making that up.

Good health care is the first priority and being paid in order to keep the office open makes it possible. There is no "Cash Cow" in primary care and hundreds of family doctors going out of business are proof of that.

Care more about money then about patients. I have gone to this facility for 2 years regularly. And I go in more than once per year. I am a cash pay patient as I currently do not have insurance and am a single mother. Since I began going there I was taken aback by their strange set of additional fees for various things. After my last visit and a recent phone call, I am fed up. At my last visit, they tried to charge me for "an extended visit" (about $40 more) because the Physician's Assistant spent more then the "Standard/Authorized" amount of time with me - 15 minutes! (I came in with a severe infection and they had to run some tests and do an exam). On top of that, I called in today to request a refill of the anti-biotic because I have been reinfected (saw the Dr. 3-4 wks. ago) and they said I would have to come in again and have new tests run! (Rather than simply calling me in a $4 harmless Rx, sounds fishy right?

4 months ago or so they implemented a new pricing structure where patients will be charged for every prescription they asked to have refilled (about $10 PER prescription refill request!); $25 charge if you have an after-hours emergency and need to speak to the person on call (they aren't offering the courtesy every other doctor's office offers); and if you just need to speak to the Dr. DURING business hours, there is a "consultation charge for that too". (I don't think any insurance covers these costs).

Sounds like MONEY is their first priority and they are turning health care into a Cash Cow. My suggestion is to find any of the other hundreds of caring doctors in your area and avoid this one "at all costs".
