not bueno. Payed a visited to this location for lunch, expecting a nice plate of "tacos al carbon". The waitress was very welcoming, and service was fast. I had to search through all the grilled onions that were piled high in order to find the beef. Also, the minature flour tortillas that they use got all soaked from the pile of lettuce and pico. The rice and beans were tasteless. For the price of this plate, not worth it at all. I ended up enjoying the chips with salsa more than the entree itself. Many other places in the immediate are much better than this.
Stick to the tacos.... Ehh...there's nothing special about this place. Maybe if you've had a lot to drink late at night and you are in the mood for tacos (good and cheap) but everything else on the menu was mediocre to bad. The margaritas were overly sweet and tasted like cheap margarita mix, the refried beans had NO flavor, and the seafood cocktail was filled with tiny shrimp and mysterious chunks of fish that still had the skin on. My friends liked the salsa but I found it to be bland, I prefer the jar of salsa in my fridge over theirs any day. Stick to the tacos and you'll be happy. Considering there are so many other great Mexican restaurants in town I won't be coming back here.
Try the seafood - it's great.. You can almost always get a table at Lupita. It's surprising, given that it's vastly superior to the nearby Cuquita's, which is often filled to capacity. Lupita is a place that truly cares about food - especially seafood. Ignore the Tex-mex stuff on the menu. Go for the real Mexican offerings.Great ceviches, shrimp and whole fried fish, stews and soups. The prices are very low (whole red snapper for $14!) and the food consistently fresh. It may not be the prettiest place, but you can't beat it for real Mexican food at a reasonable price. Go! you won't regret it. Some of the best food in Dallas, at any price.
