WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! – DO NOT GO FOR LUNCH! My girlfriend and I went to Chaucers at lunch for Valentine's day since restaurants are so busy at night. THE WAITRESS NEVER PUT OUR ORDER IN! We waited over 20 minutes, caught up in conversation, then realized people coming in after us, already had their food!!!!! We asked our waitress what was going on and if she put our order in. She never did!!! The manager was even rolling sushi because about a dozen guys came in 15 minutes after us and he was working on their order. When we originally came in, there was maybe 15 people in there. Manager never apologized and never tried to offer any kind of resolution-other than "they are busy". When we brought it to his attention the first time, he never even offered to make it a priority. My girlfriend ordered the 3 rolls for $10, but I ordered over $35 of rolls and sashimi. This place is worthless. You'd be better off going to many of the other sushi restaurants in Addison and the surrounding city. Much better food and especially SERVICE! Don't waste a holiday on this place. Can be extremely embaRrassing.
Chaucers tops the list for............ – I wanted to compliment you on your recent service at your establishment. I have been all over Germany, having been stationed there for 7 years. I have visited many restaurants there as well as all over Europe. I have eaten in all parts of Texas, as well as many restaurants in Georgia where I received my training. YOU HAVE PLACED YOURSELF ABOVE ALL OTHERS IN THE VERY WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! I have gotten better service from army cooks in the field than I received in your place of business.
I arrived at your establishment at 7:00pm. My brothers were having their birthday party there. I was served one soda, a Dr Pepper. It was never refilled once. My order was not even taken until 8:00pm. It was not the waitress who took my order, it was the manager himself, Chris. It was then that he told me that the grill was closed and BBQ was not served on Sunday. He suggested the House Fried Rice asking if I had ever tried their fried rice. After waiting an additional 45 minutes, and everyone else at the table having been served complete meals (8 in total), Chris finally returned with my fried rice. This was at 8:45pm, an hour and 45 minutes after I arrived. I told him to simply cancel my order at that time. That is an unacceptable amount of time to wait to be served such a simple dish. His response was to pick up the plate with his left hand and hit 2 other plates on the table purposely with his right hand, an act that was observed by others at the table.
Believe me, I am very impressed at how poorly you take care of your patrons. I plan on sharing my experience there with anyone who will take the time to listen to my opinion of your establishment.
Manager is rude and serves spoiled sushi – This is the second time I have eaten at Chaucer's Sushi & Grill as it is in my building. The first time was a bit disappointing as the service was not good and the sushi was just ok. As I had a client that wanted to eat lunch I decided to give them another try. What a big mistake. My spider roll was not fresh and when I asked for a credit, I was told that since I had eaten one there would not be any refund. The manager told me that he did not care if I was not happy. I would not recommend this place at all.
HORRIBLE SERVICE – I can't believe this place is still in business??? This was truly the worst service I have ever experienced in my LIFE!! I live in Frisco and have visited the Chaucer's in Frisco once, which the food was good and the service was good, but my visit to the Addison, TX Chaucer’s location was a NIGHTMARE! The management is obviously so incompetent that they can’t even have a decent adult conversation to address and defuse small and I mean small issues.
On Friday night 1-17-10, there were 6 of us friends, 2 ordered food and 4 of us ordered drinks, we received our food and drinks. Shortly after we received our food and drinks, 1 friend, who was eating her food, accidently spilled her glass of water onto the floor. She explained to the waiter that her glass of water had spilled; we need to get it cleaned up and get another glass of water. The waiter proceeded to explain that their POLICY indicated that after 10pm they could not serve water (only sale $3 bottle water after 10pm). OK…I’ve owned a restaurant once and understand some of the struggles with people coming to a facility and taking up space and not spending money. BUT, we’ve just ordered plenty food and drinks and still ordering drinks, you’ve already rendered a glass of water with her food, and now you can’t provide her another glass of water b/c of an accidental spill??? I’m talking about replacing another regular glass of freaking tap water.
Our friend asked to speak with a manager, indicated that OK, I understand your “no water” policy, but you’ve already provided me water and I’d simply like another glass of water with my meal that you can plainly see the whole glass fell on the floor. Long story short…the management abruptly told her “NO”, when my friend told him that was ridiculous, he left her standing there and called the POLICE. He had the Dallas and Addison police come out to remove this 1 female friend over a glass of water, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????. There were at least 8 police officers, 3-4 bouncers at our table….all b/c of this GLASS of WATER? No…lets get real here…….Chaucer’s management call the police because we were dinning while BLACK and had complained. Mind you….we DID pay for bottle water, for our meals, and for our drinks (we are all professional adults with jobs and money is not an issue, but we DO know BLANTANT racism when it occurs). The manager demanded the police give our friend a citation that says she will never come to the restaurant again (like she would want to anyway???), but did not indicated on the citation what reason the citation was given for. There was no indication of “disturbing of peace” or anything like that. We all stayed calm, spoke normally and profession to the wait staff, management, police, but at the same time, letting them know our frustration and disbelieve of all this DRAMA over not wanting to provide our friend with a simple replacement Glass of Water. OMG. I plan to make sure that this experience and complaint reaches Chaucer’s Corporate Office, the Addison & Dallas Police, Local News, and spread the word on this type of discrimination and poor service from this Restaurant to everyone I know. We were not asking for any special treatment….only to be treated with the services we were paying for, including customer service and to be treated fairly.

restaurant in Addison, TX. The management staff harassed my friend to the point where we had to leave. The quality of customer service at Chaucer's IS influenced by race, color, creed, and sex. This is just the beginning...
