disappointment.... I had the pleasure of documenting a bride and her group of bridesmaids as they prepared for her wedding; everything from making the bouquets to getting hair done. Unfortunately, approximately 30mins before the hair appointments, the bride gets a call from Orange salon

CANCELED ON BRIDE HOURS BEFORE WEDDING!!!. Unprofessional and Unreliable--please take time to read long review I will do my best to share the good and bad of this experience, and be as fair as I can. The good: I had a trial run with Ashley, and I was pleased that she worked well with fine hair. We had similar hair types and this was a big reason that I picked her. When she finished, it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I was confident that she could make the few changes on the day of. Plus, she ran out of time and had a client waiting and I had to be somewhere, so she didn't get to do final touches. Prior to my wedding day, Ashley did return my phone calls.

The really bad incident:

On my wedding day, I had 4 appointments at Orange Salon. 3 for bridesmaids with various stylists, and 1 for myself with Ashley. About 30 minutes prior to our first appointment, the receptionist called to let me know that Ashley's credit card machine wasn't working, and I would have to pay cash. She said that the other stylists' machines were working. (from my trial run, I remembered that Ashley used her phone to run my credit card). While, I appreciate the phone call, this was a big problem for me. For several reasons. #1 we were not familiar with the area, #2, we were on a very tight schedule, #3 I had planned on using my card and then my fiance/husband was going to reimburse me with the money from our wedding budget. I did let the receptionist know that this was a big problem. I was not inappropriate(and did not use any inappropriate language), but I did say that this was a problem and they needed to work on a solution. She said she would talk to Ashley about it. She did apologize and say that it was something that just happened (which I understood, but I was still in a bind).

My bridesmaids and I wrapped up the appointment we were already at and got on the road to head to Orange/Bank. I talked to Ashley on the way there, while we were frantically trying to find a nearest Bank of America.

Here's the part that just gets emotional for me, but I will try to take that out of it. When I talked to Ashley and asked if there was a solution, she at first said there's nothing they can do about it. Then I suggested a solution of dropping of some bridesmaids to get started and then heading to the bank, but that we might be late. I did ask if I could get a discounted price for this inconvenience. She responded by saying she would take $2 off to go to the nearest ATM instead of my personal bank. I agreed, even though I thought this was a ridiculous attempt at amends. Then Ashley went on to talk about how I was rude to the receptionist and the receptionist was "in tears". I found this to be an exaggeration. I personally didn't hold anything against the receptionist nor did I feel that she was on the verge of tears when I ended the conversation. My response to her was, "am I being rude to you?" She said, "well, you were rude to the receptionist and I really don't want that in my salon." I told her that I understand that things accidentally go wrong, but all I was doing was trying to find a solution. She said that she just didn't think me coming in was going to work for her. I tried to talk to her more about it, but she abruptly said she was with another client and she would call me back.

She did not call me back, and at that moment I felt that I couldn't trust her to set aside her resentment and work on my hair.

This put us in a real bind. Hours away from walking down the aisle.

My question is, why didn't the Salon or Ashely offer to use another stylists credit card machine, and then they could square up later? Or was it that they just wanted to put the inconvenience on me?

I felt like Ashley thought is was my problem and that she had plenty of clients waiting for her anyway and didn't need my business. Which may have been the case, but do you want someone who is so unprofessional and unreliable working on you for important events?

BEWARE!. As part of a bridal party, we all had appointments (including the bride) on the day of the wedding. The receptionist called 30 minutes prior to the appt. and said Ashley's credit card machine wasn't working, so we needed to get cash. The bride stated that there was "literally no time to get cash." (especially being strangers in this town where we know absolutely nothing about Dallas.)

Orange said they would call back and while we were on our way to the appt. Ashley called and said she didn't appreciate the bride being rude to the receptionist (and believe me, this bride was very understanding and calm...orange just didn't like what they heard). Ashley stated that she wasn't comfortable working with us any more and didn't want us to come in. The bride remained calm and was trying to come up with a comparable solution. Ashley said "I"m with a client...I'll have to call you back." Ashley NEVER had the decency to call back.

This woman knew we were relying on her! And she knew she could have single-handely ruined the biggest day of the brides life. She had absolutely no remorse or consideration. Not to mention, Orange also put a burden on all the bridesmaids since we didn't have any other options.

As out of towners the only place we knew to go Northpark Mall. Thank you so much Regis Salon!! Thank you Andy for all of your understanding and patience. They were able to get the bride's hair done and all of the bridesmaids as well. They all came out more beautiful than we could have imagined.

I have never seen such horrible customer service as I have with Orange. I literally have never written a review about anything in my life. I feel it is important you know what can possibly happen. (hopefully not on the biggest day of your life.)

THEY WILL CANCEL ON A BRIDE HOURS BEFORE WEDDING!. Only purpose to "like" this page is to post a complaint regarding the unprofessional stylist we came across. I happen to be in the States for a dear friends wedding. She informed the stylist the night before that she might not make the early appointment & she wanted to keep her original appt.@ 9:45am versus 9:15am. To which a response was given by text at 5:40am, from your employee, that her wedding appt was now considered cancelled...this was followed by 6 more texts from your stylist re-wording her previous texts msgs over the next 1/2 hr...thus sounding a bit intoxicating or worse...My poor girl called the stylist in the morning, during a more normal hr & asked if she would be at the salon bc she was heading that way (ON TIME MIND YOU!) & once again the text msgs began in such an inconsistent manner that no hair stylist in their right head, would think to react or decline a bride whom had made an appt months in advance (the bride was only worried about being late to her appt.) I hope for the sake of business that your hair stylists are drug-tested due to this particular woman's reaction to my bride friend! I pity anyone having to deal with such an unreliable hair stylist that simply did not want to do her job! Orange Salon is NOT recommended by me or to any of my associates!

a true and honest review. ok first of all, the only reason why i even tried our ORANGE is because of all the awesome reviews on citysearch; high customer reviews and ratings were what drove me to the store not once, but twice.

HONESTLY,this salon is no better than any other salon i have ever been to.

i had my hair colored and cut with monica, the receptionist told me was awesome with color and cuts and she was available on the day i was. i made my appointment for a full highlight and even brought in a couple pictures of the range of shades i was looking to stay within.. it was nothing i haven't had done before on a one time visit. she told me that it was unrealistic to get to the color that i wanted so i took her advice and settled on a few shades darker. my highlights turned our brassy and dull (to say the least) and the only good thing about her technique was that she blended my highlights well.. but the processing of the color was barely average.

a couple months later i scheduled my 2nd appointment with the hopes of finally getting to the color that i had initially desired, she got me to the level of color that i wanted but the color was not evenly processed or deposited! she put me under the dryers to help lighten my highlights and all it ended up doing was making the top half of my hair about three shades of blonde lighter than the bottom! on top of that, she deposited the color about 1/3 of an inch away from my roots, it looked like my highlights were already on their 3rd week of growing out - no joke. within 1 month my highlights had grown out so bad that i had to pay another $150 to get them filled.. the third time though, i learned my lesson and went to another salon.

after both of my experiences at orange, and even reading the 23 brilliant reviews that are on city search, which are consequently praising a different artist in each review, i truly think that the staff of orange create citysearch accounts just to leave positive reviews to drive traffic into their salon..well guess what, if they want to practice better customer service and generate REAL customer reviews that are positive, they should come to terms with the reality that their salon is JUST AVERAGE.
