I have a lovely house by ENCH.
All these negatives written about ENCH is ridiculous. Anyone who really built a home with Elizabeth Newman or knows her would know the fore written would be people who have sour grapes or just didn't get what they wanted somewhere along the line. I built a million dollar home with ENCH and not only was it a good experience all in all, I got my dream house. Of course there were bumps along the way. Its custom home building. Nothing ever gets built exactly perfectly like you want it. And true it did take longer than expected. But no gripes here. We are so happy with our home. Not only is it beautiful, but it is super energy efficient.
I read the other negative reviews and I find it ironic how these people can't use their names. "Blueleo"? That says a lot right there. And do they know what a class action lawsuit is? I am an attorney and you can't file class action lawsuits against a company like this. if this person or these folks really did their homework and really did have such a bad experience like they said they would have remedy, but like i stated before, it sounds more like sour grapes to me. Boo hoo!
I do feel sorry for the people who got hurt along with HER when she had 3/4 of a million dollars stolen from her by her CFO. That ended her business and stalled her houses, hurt her sub contractors and gave her a bad name which is just wrong.
So i am here to say, Elizabeth, you are a great builder and a great person and I am one buyer who has good things to say about you. My family is so happy with our home. Thanks for your personal service and making the experience great for us. I wish the best for you. And You ARE a great builder in Dallas.
We miss you.

Should be in Jail!! Would love to JOIN CLASS ACTION. You are so very on the spot correct!! This builder has taken our life savings and we are left without a home or our money. The bank foreclosed on the home she was building for us and she kept $249,000.00 that we had given to her! It is unsecured debt & judgment would not make her pay us back it is only a judgment! We would love to join a class action against her. We started down that road but when the Dallas Home Builders Assoc. made her a VP, our attorney couldn't take our case any longer due to conflict o finterests.Too expensive and with out our savings we are left with nothing to fight with. She deserves jail time for sure.
Deann---civil action or mechanics lien.
Deann,
We'd be more than happy to be added to that civil action. She owes us $10k in services rendered to 8 of custom built homes.
I can attest that her Greenville office is CLOSED!
Has anyone filed a mechanics lien on any of the properties.
Need to know what other are doing to collect from this corrupt woman.
BUYER BEWARE - VERY VERY DISHONEST INDIVIDUAL. I cannot agree more with the previous posts / not much to add but I could almost promise you that the previous posts that have four or five stars are posted from Elizabeth herself or on of her daughters who also work for the company..."no bs' should be changed to NOTHING but BS - Don't believe and buyer beware!
STILL ALL WET. I am the unfortunate owner of a "Elizabeth Newman Custom Home". My roof leaks, my windows leak, my doors leak and windows have never shut property (warranty nullified due to poor installation). STAY AWAY, if I would have only done my homework on this poor excuse for a builder. She never returns phone calls and has no employees left from what I understand (all walked out on her). I feel for the poor landscaper and we have a roofer who stopped by our house one day to see if we were home. He told us he and his company are owed for three houses and she had the nerve to offer to pay them 1/3 of the total amount owed (he said not enough to even cover materials). I do not know this industry well but I would think as the word gets out, which it seems it has, she will owe enough people to get a class action law suit, I AM IN!
Insider. Did Kristy Swanson have a wedding disaster? ET has an inside look at the star?s special day. Also Kevin Frazier talks to the Jonas Brothers about their steamy shirtless scenes in their new movie
BEWARE OF ELIZABETH NEWMAN AND HER LACK OF BUILDING ABILITIES AND THEFTS. I CONTINUE TO READ COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK ON THIS BUILDER WHICH I UNFORTUNATELY BOUGHT A HOUSE FROM A YEAR AGO. I WOULD BE REMISS NOT TO CHIME IN....SHE IS A HUGE CON, HER COMPANY IS BANKRUPT AND IS ONE OF THE MOST DISHONEST HUMAN BEINGS ON THE PLANET. SHE WILL GET WHAT SHE DESERVES BUT NO POTENTIAL HOMEOWNER SHOULD EVER CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS SNAKE. HER REPUTATION IS HORRIBLE AND I AM HOPING THIS MESSAGES KEEPS OTHERS FROM BEING BURNED. DALLAS HAS SOME A CLASS HOMEBUILDERS, THIS COMPANY IS DEFINITELY NOT ONE OF THEM.....FROM HER REMODELING TO NEW CONSTRUCTION - EVERYONE I KNOW HAS HAD A POOR EXPERIENCE - I WOULD NEVER POST ANYTHING UNTRUE, BUT IF YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK AS "ANDY" STATES, YOU WILL FIND THAT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF PEOPLE FIND HER AND THIS COMPANY CORRUPTED, UNETHICAL AND MOST OF ALL DISHONEST. STAY AWAY AND BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REBUTTAL to ANDYSMU.
Regarding ANDYSMU (not his real name).
I would be remiss in not writing a rebuttal to this homebuyer (not home-owner) who liked the process so much the first time around attempted to purchase from ENCH a 2nd time. The latter of which he and his partner were forced to withdraw by their lender due to running their credit into the ground during construction on a house they couldn't afford in the first place.
Seems he's forgotten how I knocked $100K off the price so they could qualify for the loan because they were be-back buyers, and then still didnt' qualify anyway.
18 months of build time? Yep, you are right about that. And guess who paid all that interest while those 18 months rolled by while you changed your mind on design and materials etc, etc. Yes, some things took longer because ENCH. I willing to admit that. But my worst mistake was allowing you to use your own subcontractors to put things in your new house to allow you to save money.
No! To spending YOUR banks money, you didn't have a bank, remember???. No bonus went to me, there was no extra money remember????
Now you trash me??? Claim the house built is shoddy construction???? If so shoddy why did you fight so hard to move into it?? Oh, Wait, you did move into it on the sly, locking ENCH and the bank out of the house. When you failed to get the loan you even broke into the house in the middle of the night and damaged the house stealing things from the house. You are nothing but common thieves. But I am a dishonest builder??? Huh???
And is it 8 or 10 foreclosures I have now??? Which one is it ?? Your stories keep changing. Let me help you with that "BEST BUILDER" comment. D-Home sends out 800 ballots to area builders. If you are chosen you elect to advertise. You don't pay to be "Best Builder". Come on!
Oh and all my employees still have a job and have all happily collected their paychecks, no thanks to getting the "FairyHouse" back. Enjoy your duplex. YELP!
Builder or CON ARTIST?.
It has taken me a long time to decide the right thing to say about my experience with Elizabeth Newman and ENCH. First and foremost, D Homebuilder of the Year is a PAID advertising gimmick which anyone asked to pay a certain fee, will be included in this list. This company has one of the worst reputations in the building community amongst its peers and everyone I have talked to has confirmed her product results in POOR construction quality. The company does not pay its bills and when they were building our house we actually had sub-contractors contact US to get paid. Long after we moved in the calls and personal visits from such vendors continued. All repeated the same things, they had just begun working with this company and had not been paid and the receptionist (a relative of the accounting clerk) would not put calls through to either Elizabeth or our Superintendent. Our own Superintendent communicated to us that he had not been paid in months and Elizabeth the President Owner continued to bonus herself monies while living out of the construction loan money provided from the Buyer's banks (ILLEGAL). We only saw Ms. Newman once during the debacle. The committed to a 9 month build time which took almost 18 months to complete which she blamed on US!!!
Do yourself a favor an find a reputable builder - Public record reveals 8 of her properties have been foreclosed on so far this year and several homebuyers personal homes never finished. I am in the communication business and this company (run by Ms. Newman with only 3 other employees including her husband) is the most non-communicative and insulting organization to the building trade.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!!!! We have a list of close to 32 warranty items still in need of repair but get no return calls from this joke of a company. FINALLY, SHE BRAGGED THAT HER FAMILY WROTE SEVERAL OF THE GOOD REVIEWS ON HERE, unfortunately it was after we had already signed a contract with her to build. Lesson LEARNED.
Great Homebuilder, Great Value and No B.S.!. My family highly recommends Elizabeth Newman Custom Homes. Our experience has been wonderful. The process has been rather delightful considering our last 2 building nightmares. I read the review from the previous employee wrote, and while he wasn't a part of the construction team that built my house, I do know who he is and that he his review is just sour grapes from being terminated. Liz Newman was very generous to us during the process. Allowed us to live in another one of her properties while our house was completed since we sold our house before it was finished. John Jayroe, the construction manager went above and beyond to get our house finished quickly but with quality in mind and with very few items left outstanding as we moved in, which was a first for us in our 3 times home building. Liz Newman was very involved in the process herself. She worked dlilgently to make sure we thought about every item we wanted included up front to make sure we didn't have to come out of pocket for it later. Another thing we never experienced with our previous builders was the honesty and straight forwardness we received from both Liz and John. If they didn't think it would look good they told us, if it wasn't possible they told us and they were realistic with timelines. Wow! What a unique characteristic for a builder! Bravo ENCH team! Bravo! Annie, Peter, Jude and Jade York
