The Scene
The entire restaurant makes a full rotation every 55 minutes, allowing guests full bird's-eye views of downtown, the Trinity River and more. One wall is windows where the Reunion Tower's lights are up close. The dining area has neutral grey tones, leaving the attention to the windows. Tourists and lovey-dovey couples dine at tables arranged in the circular restaurant at the windows and more interior.

The Food

A thick multigrain bread, served piping hot, is divine. Crab cakes are fluffy, quesadillas crisp and gooey. Both come with a refreshing jicama slaw and a creamy, herb-infused sauce. Sangria-marinated lamb T-bones create a barbecue sauce-like reduction, a perfect dip for whipped potatoes. Veal tenderloin is a winner, ladled with foie gras, a brandy sauce and earthy morel mushrooms. The Landmark Tower dessert resembles the building itself. The Shiner Bock Bundt cake is a cinnamon-infused delicacy with brandied blueberries, peaches, cherries and raspberries.

My husband and I dined at Antares last night. With an 8pm reservation, we had a great dusk to night view of Dallas. We both felt we couldn't go wrong with the chef's three course special. We started with Spicy Thai Dumplings. They were flavorful, but not so much as to spoil the next course. Our entree was Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass with a Quinoa Pilaf, Lemon Asparagus, and Tomato Chutney. The words "beautiful and delicious" don't seem like enough to decribe the taste of that entree. The sauce surrounding the dish was the perfect escort and the roasted pecans sprinkled on top were an unexpected highlight to a meal that had already won me over! The third course was a perfect ending Tiramisu that was so cool, creamy, and artfully dressed with a bit of berry garnish, chocolate, and orange puree. What a place and what a meal!

First impression of the restaurant is that the decor is pretty dated. Next con is the casual dress of other patrons - detracts from "special occasion" atmosphere. The wine list was severely lacking - little choice and nothing that I consider a fine wine. We had the mushrooms for an appetizer, which was salty. The duck confit salad was also just "okay". I had the roasted breast of chicken, which was absolutely terrible - couldn't eat it. My boyfriend had the sirloin steak, also terrible. I have had a better steak at chili's for 1/3 the price. We then braved the dessert menu only to be disappointed by the creme brulee, which was more like a bad custard pie, complete with crust. No crispiness. The only good thing about Antares is the spectacular view of Dallas - so save yourself a lot of money and go for cocktails instead.

Mario was our waiter and he far exceded our expectations! Ask for him if you dine there! Not only was her professional, but he was a really down to earth guy. Our food was excellent, as well. My husband had a t-bone steak and lobster tail. The steak had an incredible flavor and melted in your mouth! I had the Seafood Zarsuela and I can say, without hesitation, that is was the most incredible meal I've ever had! I highly recommend it! We went around 8PM so we could watch the sunset! Just ask for a seat to the west! The ambience was nice and there weren't any out of the ordinary noises in the backround as another person stated. In fact, I didn't hear any dishes banging/breaking at all. Overall, our experience was amazing and I'd go back in a heartbeat if we visited Dallas again!
