It's a smaller place with intimate little tables - great for a date - but the high ceiling and clean decor makes it feel airy. There is a small patio out front for nice weather dining. Must try: bruschetta, appetizer pizza, Gorgonzola ravioli with pears arugula (you'll be surprised) and risotto with wild boar.
Sunday brunch. BOTTOMLESS, yes I said BOTTOMLESS mimosa on sundays. Oh and the pizza is fresh and tasty. Got the margarita pizza and it came out HOT fresh from the oven with fresh crusty bread. Just da ways I likes it.
Great romantic spot. Love going here on a weeknight woth my boyfriend. The food is AMAZING and the wine list is not overpriced at all. Sometimes we just go in for a glass of wine and order the steamed mussels they're to die for! The only drawback is the crowd on weekends, it's too small and so loud when there too many people.Defintely go in during the week for dinner, it is so worth it, and romantic too.
Good authentic Italian.
Great pizza, the rissotto is really good on most occasions as well. I went once when it was lacking. But been excellent recently. Try the pizza desert with nutella and icecream! Great! big enough for 4-6 people!
Enjoy!
Best brunch in town hands-down!. Taverna of course has a great dinner (especially the fish specials and the parmesan and truffle oil risotto,) but did you know they have an outstanding brunch menu as well? The menu includes some italian favorites like a breakfast calzone, but it also has a fantastic belgian waffle (not so italian,) yummy bennedict, and BOTTOMLESS $5 Mimosas and Bellinis!!! You have to try... it knocks the socks off of Breadwinners!!
Authentic Italian fare in warm, rustic surroundings draws a cosmopolitan crowd to this inviting Knox-Henderson spot..
The Scene
Brown butcher paper on the tables and a buzzing, copper-accented open kitchen give this room a casual, energetic feel. Framed postcards and photographs adorn the pale stucco walls of the warmly lit space, in which high shelves of wine are displayed at a tiny bar and a few plush easy chairs make for an intimate lounge. A fashionable crowd of diners--many of them Italian--chat breezily at tables and spill out onto the outdoor patio.
The Food
Taverna's simple, rustic fare sings with fresh ingredients and clean flavors, from piping-hot pan-roasted shrimp antipasti to rosemary-kissed focaccia baked in a wood-burning oven. Pizzas are not to be missed, with a thin, crispy crust and simple toppings like smoky mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Risotto is a revelation of rich, firm-yet-tender Carnaroli rice finished with seafood, chicken or truffle oil and big shavings of Parmesan cheese. Panna cotta with raspberry coulis makes for a light, lovely dessert.
