Editorial Review for Stockyards National Historic District – by Jeff Speicher

In Short
Recurrent stops by cattlemen beginning more than 150 years ago created the legendary Stockyards district. Today, cattle drives take place every day at 11:30am and 4pm. Attractions like the Stockyards Livery Stable and Arena, Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and Cowtown Coliseum are among the crowd favorites. Miss Molly's Hotel and Stockyards Hotel offer guest rooms and a hot meal for visitors staying overnight, while the legendary Billy Bob's serves up food and fun at night.

Insider Tips

Look Good

The stockyard's edges have been softened somewhat over the years, but you still want to wear a good pair of jeans and boots.

When to Go

The Stock Show and Rodeo is held over a three-week period every October and captures the stockyards in rare form.
