Best Neighborhood Restaurant and Bar. I have been to the Iron Cactus quite a few times recently. Being a downtown resident I can't express what a plus it is to have the "Cactus" as part of our neighborhood! The management team is outstanding as the consistently GREAT food and service proves. They recently started a new Sunday Brunch which is the best kept secret in Dallas. I highly suggest checking out the Iron Cactus for any occasion! Ask for Captain Tom (GM) when you get there as he truly understands what great food and service is all about.
User review by alexsantacruz. well service was very good and a very cool place to have drinks and hangout, but food was just average
Good downtown spot. Went there for Saturday brunch. The food was good and at first the service was good but twords the end as they got busy the witer disapered. It took 20 minutes to get a check. I probaly will go back to check out hte night scence. Great spot to watch people if your on the patio or near front of restuarant.
Mingle at downtown's architecturally impressive Mexican-chain transplant from Austin..
The Scene
Exposed-brick walls, stylish wood furniture, fireplaces and bright Mexican landscape paintings create an urban, easygoing vibe. The second floor has an open kitchen for tapas and a low-lit bar with a balcony overlooking Pegasus Plaza. The third story is an open-air patio with a full menu and space for mingling. Service is casual, but attentive.
The Food
The menu aims for the same level of hip sophistication as the interior design, with most items featuring some twist on a classic. Spicy jalapeno calamari is served alone or as part of the cactus platter with flautas, quesadillas, spinach-artichoke dip and warm, thick tostadas. Combination fajitas come with side dishes like thick guacamole and bold charro beans. Lower on the spice scale, Santa Fe skewers offer mild chunks of sirloin, Gulf shrimp and fire-grilled vegetables served over Mexican rice.
