Karma is something else!. I witnessed the doorman and valet attempt to run this game on a person they didnt know was a police officer. The doorman decided the officers slacks, and button down shirt were not enough to get in. This black officer and his girl friend. Politely advised that three men ahead of them let into the bar not wearing jackets. The bouncer smirked and advised that was them and this is you. The officer walked away to his vehicle still parked on the curb as he valet had not parked it yet. The officer then contacted the valet and asked for his money back (20.00) as his vehicle had not been parked. The valet advised he would need to return at the end of the night (3am) if he wanted his money back. The officer looked at both the doorman and the valet and said " oh, i see your game." He then pulled out his badge and threatened to take action on the valet. The valet advised here is your money have a nice night. The doorman thought it was funny and decided now to let the officer and his girlfriend in. The officer declined and offered us a ride to another club. We ended up partying with the cop and his girlfriend the rest of the evening. We all hope the bar closes for good!

I am so confused!. I really have no idea what's going on, I feel like I am in the twilight zone! Well maybe not that dramatic, but what Obar are all these people talking about??? Bc I am having trouble believing it's that tiny little underground place on Main I know as Obar! I'm not defending the bar, I find the place a bit too hard to walk through/ get a drink anyway, but was so curious I had to ask! I live downtown and have been to Obar roughly 50 times over the past 3 years since moving to Dallas and I couldn't be more confused! Waiting in hours-long lines? Lists? Slipping money to bouncers? Did I accidentally link to the Ghostbar reviews somehow? And I don't even know what is going on with all of the racism stuff... I've never noticed anything other than a well mixed crowd. Who are the non-whites not getting in? Asian? Black? Hispanic? Again, I'm just curious at this point... bc the Obar all these people are talking about just.... doesn't exist? By the way, heard rumors Obar shut down? What happened with that? That was like... at least a month ago.

WOW. When I read the first review about the discrimination going on, I figured it was just because you were mad but as I am going through the reviews, it seems like every other review is about them discriminating. And I think that whoever responded by basically saying these people are pulling out the race card, you should have a real hard time looking at yourself in the mirror. I went to there once last year for halloween and had a great time. Then again it was predomanately black and the people throwing it was black. But I have never seen them have another party like that again. I was hoping they would do it again this year but now I wonder. Definately what did it for me is the young lady who's black friend got turned away from the door because they wern't on the list and no one was even holding a list. I seriously don't think more that one particular person would get on here and say the same thing if its not true. If it is true, you need to not defend the club mr. busness person doing the responses and listen, and investigate the situation to be on the safe side because these are serious acusations. This is illegal and should not be taken lightly. I however, will not go again and am glad that I didn't attempt to before. And Im already letting other people know about this so that they can tell other people too.

Avoid at all cost!. No stars for this one! Obar will give you an OMG moment. This establishment has not received the memo that the civil rights act passed. It is unacceptable that in this day and age Neanderthals are placed in front of an establishment to bar the entrance of intelligent, articulate, well dressed and financially able adults. Hmmm... Here's a thought. Maybe instead of suits, and designer dresses we'll show up with picket signs! My recommendation is to Boycott OBAR until the management changes its philosophy and these people are replaced.
