In Short
The Trammell and Margaret Crow Collection is a comprehensive exhibit of works from Japan, China, India and Southeast Asia. Natural light illuminates most of the 12,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Pieces span from 3500 B.C. to the early 20th century. Featured displays include precious jade ornaments from China, delicate Japanese scrolls and a rare 28-by-12 foot sandstone facade of an 18th-century Indian residence. Several permanent pieces are rotated regularly.

For a cost of $0, you can come see one of the most impressive private collections of Asian art around. That's right, it's free. The Trammell-Crow Collection is a sleak modern museum with multiple galleries boasting treasures from East and South Asia. They have a rotating collection on their lowest gallery that usually features modern art from China or Japan, so every time you come back you'll get to see something different. Their collection of Chinese antiquities is most impressive, but just down the corridor you'll find treasures from India, Nepal, and Southeast Asia as well. The museum hosts regular cultural activities (like mehndi instruction and documentaries) and festivals in conjunction with the Dallas Museum of Art across the street. Not to be missed!

Trammell Crow is a well known name in Dallas and with the work they put into this gallery, you will walk away pleased. I toured the gallery a few months ago during a Korean Pottery exhibit and was amazed with the fine detail they put into placement and lighting. The Gallery is not a very large gallery although it is two stories. It is a nice place to go during the week when it is not very crowded. You are allowed to take pictures in the gallery however tripods must be left behind. They have a few different exhibits throughout the year.
