What People Are Saying About Cretia's

Featured Review

Owner Cretia Drydale lures her customers into her romantically vogue restaurant with a patio speckled with flowers and iron-works. Inside, antique accents, heavy wooden furniture and tin-stamped ceilings lend to an ambience reminiscent of the 1800s. Uptown fans of the past location and the affluent Park Cities crowd trickle in for the Cajun meatloaf and rotisserie prime rib of beef, both served with a vegetable and a choice of fries, crushed potatoes and creamy gorgonzola polenta. Dessert is homemade at the Duncanville shop and is brought in daily for those craving cakes and cookies.

Editor's Tips

When to Go:
Sunday brunch features live music on the patio and a generous menu of options; the beignets and eggs ponchatrane with fried eggplant compares to no other breakfast around.
The Extras:
Cakes are custom designed for special events and catering for lunch and dinner is also available.

The worst Texas has to offer!

by BECCA S at Citysearch

Quite frankly I am shocked this place has been around so long! Desserts are their claim to fame! What a joke - you might just pick up better fare at your local grocery store - One person raves about the pies, another the cakes and you hear so much buzz about the cookies - its apparent these people are obviously friends/family and have never ventured outside the real world of desserts. The crap peddled at Cretia's is not worthy to be fed to my dog! Cretia boasts 3 locations - the one in Duncanville is a filthy pig pen swarming with old geezers that don't have anything better to do - the place needs a serious updo - its location is questionable the decor is horrific - Oakcliff is a joke - the people in that area are so full of themselves its as if they all think they are shopping on rodeo drive - LOL Oakcliff is by far the worst in decor - Cretia obviously needs to rethink what she wants to be she has no sense of style she's always blitzed! check her out next time u visit her Highland location - she may be bombed but hey get her to buy u a round -Maybe then you'll rave about her fare - Desserts at Cretia's THE WORST TEXAS HAS TO OFFER

What a dump....

by Kaleb Powell at Citysearch

Not sure what the scoop is here. The buzz is this place is known for their cakes, pies and heavenly treats! Come on people get a grip here! The desserts are the pits! The pies are undercooked and the cakes are drenched in fat! This place is a freakin dive bar! The service sucks, the food is a joke and the desserts are completely laughable-One writer describes this place as vogue/romantic - Yeah right if you're bringing in a hooker you just picked up on Harry Hines! This place is far from romantic the decor is Salvation Army Chic - I for one am not looking up at the damn ceiling - I want to see what's on my plate and let me tell you nothing there was worth mentioning! Cretia is definitely some inexperienced bar fly trying to make a name for herself uptown - She definitely needs to pick it up or pack it up! Has anyone visited the dump in Duncanville? It's ieven worse than this place - Filthy and outdated! LOL I'm sure someones paying off the officials that are supposed to regulate this garbage being served. Check out the bathrooms in these places totally gives you some insight as to what's on your plate. Cretia's needs to get out of the food business and focus on the booze - I'm almost certain she's sampled a few too many bottles better yet she's probally sitting in one of the stools half lit! Clean up this dump - the music sucks and you definitely need some schooling! or hire someone that knows the BIZ! you obviously don't have a clue.

What the....

by Jack is back at Citysearch

Can honestly say I've seen it all! I definitely must be a glutton for punishment! After visiting Bishop Art's we ran across this place off McKinney and thought ok maybe this place is better than the dump in the neighborhood! Still laughing my ass off buddy! This place screams HELP! sure the booze is pouring the owner was definitely feeling no pain! - the place lacks in management and the food was disgusting! I was told the meatloaf was a must try and help me jesus it was not only dry I thought they pulled it out of the fridge and heated it up! All we were being pushed was booze - the place was noisy disorderly and seedy! The decor was drab, felt like it was salvation army chic! Who does this? These people have obviously got some pull somewhere - its definitely not money - must be a money laundering business because they sure as hell ain't investing any of their pennies into this dump - now I see they have another location in Duncanville - OH Boy! Should I dare? Nah....

I honestly think I've done had it! Oh if anything we need someone to critique the desserts here I for one did not have the stomach after the dogfood I was served. I honestly think someone needs to call a city inspector to come out and rate this place. there are some big time violations going on here! Could not help but laugh at Ms Cretia she was defiitely hogging up the corner with her groupies - after seeing that it definitely explains alot

Good time had by all

by cdog19 at Citysearch

So after reading alot of the reviews I still decided to go to Cretia's. It was a Friday night I had dinner with friends, and ended up staying for the live music and Dj. For starters we had the cheese board which was extremly well presented plenty of cheese and fruit. Our table shared a few items the Jalapeno chicken, a pepperoni pizza, and the meatloaf all were great. our server was very attentive and fun.

I asked the sever what Cretia's concept was, seeing as they server food and apparently a very busy bar. He said they are a causal homecooking restaurant not a formal restaurant as some have indicated. Our dinner was great and the after party was as well. We loved it and will definatly be back.

alcohol heaven

by vickygirl at Citysearch

This place obviously makes their money through alcohol. They sure push it. Their food was mediocre and their pie was a little raw. Both food and pie needed to stay in the oven a little longer. But everyone here is for the booze. This place is like a frat house. Their website is misleading. Matter of fact the pictures didn't even look like their food! This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  • Pros: tons of alcohol
  • Cons: tons of drunks
