Great Food. This place has great food and service. The queso is divine! A must for as an appetizer. In addition, this place has budget friendly specials for lunch and dinner. Wednesday, you can bet a 75cent margarita with dinner. Ice tea and soda is more. On the weekends, you find a live band who makes sure the night doesn't end with a conga line where you get a shot of liquor. Really!! Try the Aca y Alla Chicken, Mexican Lasagna or Tula Chicken. Shall I'll go on? This retaurant is definately worth multiple visits. Don't forget brunch Sunday!
Did you know they have 75 cent margaritas with the purchase of dinner on Wednesdays?. You can not miss this on your Latin list! My guy and I have been here three weeks in a row since we discovered them. The enchiladas are out of this world! I love the Chili sauce on the meat ones, the choice of green or sour cream sauce on the chicken is a nice touch of choices and you can not BEAT the $.75 cent margarita with dinner special on Wednesday! Beats the pants off of any Margarita special I have EVER seen! The hostess is divine, the salsa never empty ( there is a guy that comes around filling them all night) and the atmosphere is fantastic! It?s the PERFECT place for a group of women as well. There actually was a group of about 12 women on one of the nights I was there and they were having a blast! I hear they have LIVE SALSA on Fridays as well, I am sure to come back again and again. Monicas is the BEST! OH, FREE Valet as well in a monitored parking lot for you that have nice cars, no worries, they are snug as a b u g while you dine.
For when normal mexican food needs a flare.
One of the best in the city, great margaritt's check out the wednesday special 0.50 cent. Wait staff is very attentive, yet on special nights they have no problem requesting a higher tip by writing the corrected amount in ink. Which always puts me off and moves me from a ample 20-30% tip to exactly 15%.. Try the pumpkin ravoli's they are there best kept secret, try something new the mexican lasagna is outstanding even for breakfast..
Great brunch menu, and specials.
Deep Ellum restaurant offers weekend Latin music, daily specials and an international twist on Mexican cuisine..
The Scene
This is one of the sophisticated options in Deep Ellum, with an emphasis on creative Mexican dishes. The red walls, black ceiling and columns, and tan booths and tables create a dark atmosphere for business lunches or dinner dates. A full bar takes up one wall, while a stage takes up another (curtains drawn except on weekends). Service is fast and helpful.
The Food
Owner Monica Greene (also known for Ciudad) created a menu that draws international flavors into Mexican cuisine. Even the queso has more than average taste, with fresh cilantro and peppers mixed in a white cheese. The Mexican lasagna (a steal at $4.99 during lunch) is layers of tortilla, two cheeses, black beans, chicken with red and green sauces. Menu specials are served daily at reasonable prices, including Wednesday's torta topped with beef fajita. Flavored margaritas come in regular, peach, melon, raspberry, strawberry, green apple and watermelon.
You Should Go!. This restaurant is so much fun and the swirl margarita's are soooo good. The service was great and the food was awesome. I can't wait to go back and try something new.
Monica's is Fun. Great ambiance and live music on weekends. Really a fun atmosphere for a group on weekends although it is very loud. Evenings has higher prices - lunch time is a bargain. Good chips and salsa. Great main courses - my favorite is Shrimp Risotta - vegetables and shrimp mixed in a chipolte cream sauce that is spicy but not overpowering. Happy hour specials vary by day or the week and are a bargain
Cheese enchiladas.
The best cheese enchilada ever - get them with white sauce for heaven right here on earth
The music's way too loud to speak to your date, but the side room's fine
