For the Sushi Lover. Exceptional Customer Service. Delicious Sushi..
Exceptional service from the moment we walked into the door. We were greeted by the host and taken to a table where he handed us our menus individually and only left after the waitress came. We love sushi and Chong (the waitress) gave us a detailed look at the menu and the specials...ask them what kind of fish you like and they will tell you what you will like. After we ordered, we had to wait maybe 10 minutes for our complete order. The waitress was attentive...putting the first helping of Kaze tower roll on each of our plates for us. Then the host came around to check on us. I don't think he knew how (somewhat) advanced we are at sushi, but he explained the benefits (in his best english) of ginger and wasabi and green tea. He even suggested what we should eat the spices with what sushi. They make their wasabi FRESH. The sushi was very, very fresh and absolutely delicious. We also had desert: the mochi ice cream and the tempura (fried) ice cream. Their red bean ice cream is phenomenal! The staff was very attentive in making sure we liked what we ordered, they loved to hear our praises. Chong, at the end of the meal, talked with us for a good 10 minutes.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is serene and allows for quiet conversation. My parents and I went together but I saw many couples. They also have a banquet room.
We usually go to a place called Nagoya in Arlington, TX. The sushi is OK and the service is horrible.
The menu is made for the sushi lover but has hibachi and other things for the not so strong of hearts. They give you a japanese birthday on your birthday (free ice cream!)
Great experience with service and sushi at the best price we've ever paid. Good people you want to go back and see. One of the few places that I would say, hands down, that I will go back to just to support the people working there.
The sushi is the very delicious icing on the cake!
Best kept secret in Mequite :).
My husband, who hates Sushi surprised me with sushi on Valentines Day last year, and this is what iposted in my personal blog:
Once we got past the Asian waiter trying to talk me out of eel, I guess he didn't think I'd be up to it... The Plum wine, sushi, green tea ice cream were all wonderful. We sat in a cozy little booth. All of that plus the entertainment of watching a cowboy waiter try to sell sushi, lol, but that's Mesquite for you :) I do have to say the chefs are fabulous and the decor is intimate...I was fairly impressed, considering the location and my expectations going in.
Prices were reasonable for sushi in my opinion.
Only sushi in Mesquite. Definately a break from your average chain restaurant on restaurant row. Sushi is good, had better, but for the price and location it's great. Menu used to be much fuller, with items like duck, but the items on the menu are still very good. Salad dressing is amazing, miso soup is not to be missed. Quite the atmosphere. Dessert is good, try the tempura ice cream.
Pretty Food. I went to Kamikaze with a friend yesterday and ordered the Spider Roll and Philadelphia Roll. The presentation was beautiful, but I have had better sushi for a lower price. If you like very subtle, delicate flavor, you would likely be satisfied. The miso soup was very good. If you're craving sushi and in the area, I would recommend trying it out. The interior is very nice and you can take your picture with a large sumo wrestler cutout at the entrance.
