Tips for Wine Therapist

September 23, 2012

Fun, bohemian place with nice selection of wines. Enjoy the Wine Therapist as a good go to place for drinking good wines. The pours are very generous compared to other wine bars and the service is good but not intrusive. Also I can get a bottle or two to go at competitive price of very well selected wines. Also fun is Pizza night with Chef TJ on Wednesday nights!

Great neighborhood wine bar. I love the Wine Therapist as a "go to" neighborhood bar. While some wines are over-priced (stay away from the "premium" and "ultra premium" reds), there is plenty of variety at other price points. Ask about "off the menu" selections, as there are always some gems hidden from the average customer. The guests are really friendly people who want to strike up conversation. The live music is almost always bearable (this is a big thumbs up compared to other bars in the area) and sometimes brilliant.

Depending on who is behind the counter, the staff range from talented, patient, and courteous to downright rude.

I'd give the Wine Therapist five stars if they expanded the "mid range" section of their wine holdings and fire one particular staff member . . .

Good times. I have a blast every time I pop in. The proprietor is charming and amiable. The wine selection is good and the ambiance is very pleasing. The pricing is reasonable and fair and I appreciate the live music.

Is this the state of the wine scene in Dallas?. Okay, call me a wine snob. Sure, the staff was friendly and the people at the bar where as well but let's face it... the wine was "mediorcre at best" (they made me change that last phrase). If you're a newbee to wine you'll enjoy the harmless over priced selections that they have available. If you're AT ALL interested in having a glass (let alone a bottle) of anything approaching decent then steer away!

Best Wine Place for fun, Great Wine. I enjoyed this Bohemian wine place because the staff were friendly and had a fun atmosphere last Saturday. They actually had a massage therapist just after I got off work and I had a 15 minute chair massage! I had a glass of Mil Piedras Argentine Malbec and it was wonderful. Then they recommended my girlfriend and I to York Street restaurant and got us reservations and it was wonderful too!! I would highly recommend this Wine Therapist!!

Fun Place and Very Good Wine! Very non--corporate, artsy. I wondered what the heck the Wine Therapist was when I saw the sign---was it a place for

problem drinkers? I was delighted to find it was a very relaxed wine store/bar--obviously these people have a sense of humor. The service was more European----the girl let me try 2 samples and I found a nice Spanish Grenache. I also said I was hungry so she gave me a few menus and I ordered a small pizza from Scalini's. Next I had a glass of Austrian Zweigelt, which I hadn't had before and it was very smooth and a nice change of pace. All in all, a nice neighbourhoody place to visit.

9.1???? are you kidding me???. We are out of town wine enthusiasts and researched this establishment on Citysearch. Since it was the top rated in Dallas we were excited and had high expectations. We were very dissapointed to say the least! Very limited wine selection, unorganized store, and very unfriendly people/atmoshphere. A real let down.

User review by mbuckland. I first visited the Wine Therapist to add to my at-home collection.

I thought I would spend more money here because of the specialty atmosphere, but at least I would know what to look for in the future. I was delighted to find that, not only is the selection is far superior to what I would find at many other stores, but the assistance I received was exceptional...World Market couldn't even beat the prices on some of the wines!

They have even offered to let me taste some of the wines I wasn't sure about...I bought them all!

I continue to return to the Therapist, as I can spend as much or as little as I want on a quality bottle of wine, can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and drink my wine there for only a $2 corkage! "shamilton"...maybe your bottle was more because of tax and corkage?

Better Wines. I enjoyed visiting this store the other night. They had more than just supermarket or

bulk wines you'd find at the liquor store, but had some really cool small producers I'd

only seen when in California. The wines on the wall were all pretty good deals, but I wanted something better and that's when I realized that the wine guy would go the extra mile, and he found me his last bottle of Plumpjack in the cellar which I couldn't find anywhere else. Sure, he upsold me, but life to short to drink plonk when you've got a really good job.
