horrible service – My parents came to town for a few days and my dad wanted to take everyone out to a nice dinner. We choose Kenny's because my brother said he heard good things about it. The food was pretty good, but our waitress, Jessica, was horrible. I have been in the service industry for ten years and can forgive alot of things, but she was straight up rude and condescending. She rushed us threw dinner, rolled her eyes at our questions, removed our half-eaten food before we were done and gave us ugly looks the whole time. I will never go back to that restaurant because of the service.
Great Dining Experience – The food was great and the prices were not bad. We went the first night we were there, purely by the flip of a coin and were so impressed we went back the last night we were there. Would definitely go back again - highly recommend it. We wish they would start a chain or mail order service!
Best Place In Addison – This place is excellent!! Outstanding food at great prices. Servers and bartenders are extremely professional and personal with their service. Management is great, its so nice to have either the owner or the managers of a restaurant greet you at your table during your meal just to check and see how everything is going. Hardly any other restaurants do that!! Also, the atmosphere is wonderful. The dimly lit dining room makes for a great romantic scene. In my opinion the noise eased my mind after reading some of these reviews, I believe it is loud because everyone is having such a wonderful time. It might be a little too loud for the older crowd, so I would suggest that those who are hard of hearing go in when its not so busy. That might be a little difficult considering this place is always buzzing!! This was not my first time to Kenny's. I have been enough times to try almost everything, and I can't find one thing to complain about. My favorite items on the menu are....
Appetizer: Ahi Tuna Nachos Main Coarse: Filet Mignon(best I've ever had in the Dallas Metroplex)
Average – Went to eat at Kenny's with my sister; atmosphere noisy, and there weren't even that many people there. We went early on a Friday night; around 5-6pm to avoid the late dinner rush; we didn't need reservations and there was actually only one other dinner table at that time. Bar was noisy however, so whole restaurant was noisy, because the place is very small!
Started with the Brie fondue, highly recommend it, and they have great bread; but didn't like the high prices for the food. Got the seafood pasta and my sister got the baked fish; both were okay, but nothing to write home about for the prices. Probably won't return; waitstaff was friendly but kind of in a pompous way; a little cheesy. Management was there and did walk around to the tables; that was a nice touch, but still, I think there are so many other great restaurants in Dallas; this one just didn't make the mark for us. Might be okay for drinks/appetizers only; but if you're looking for a great sit down meal, this probably isn't the place b/c the food was just "okay".
Perfect & Delicious! – Before my significant other and I made reservations at Kennys last night we read the reviews posted by other diners. After reading those, we thought it best not to order the ribeye steak but wanted to give it a shot regardless.
We had reservations for 8:45 since that was the "first available slot". We arrived an hour early and ordered two drinks while waiting in the small bar area. I ordered a Wedding Cake martini and it was perfect. Within 15 minutes of arriving we were seated early and our dining experience began.
The staff was very professional, descriptive, and informed of all details of the menu items.
We skipped the starters and decided to go with the Filet. We both ordered them Medium Well and ordered a bottle of wine to pass time.
Another posted noted that the wines were not stored in the appropriate temperatures but ours was perfect.
When our steaks arrived they were cooked to perfection! I actually ordered the chefs special which had a 10-U shrimp atop with a special cream sauce. My dates' was placed with a port demi glaze sauce that was delicious as well!
We ate slowly to savor the flavors of our delightful dinners and enjoyed the restuarant.
Overall the experience was wonderful and we will definitely return. It was so great that we decided to order another drink after dinner!
Other posters are correct in the fact that the small restaurant is quite noisy but we sat beside eachother on the back wall and could hear the other person just fine.
The decor and lighting give the place a special feel, the food and wine presentations were impeccable, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious.
Does not deliver the goods – Last night a friend and I tried Kenny's Wood Fired Grill based on a reccomendation. However I would not reccomend it personally. On the positive side the service was excellent from one of the Owners greeting us at the door to our attentive waitress. With that being said the food does not justify the high menu prices. The meal started off well with the Brie Fondue which was excellent, but went downhill from there. We both ordered medim-rare Ribeye Steaks which were seved medium and 1 was returned to the kitchen. That is inexcusable for a $27.00 steak. I am a fan of many local Seak Houses and expected so much more for the price (Ruth's Chris or Pappas Bros. would be a much better bet). The meat did not seem any higher quality than a steak I can purchase at a local grocery store and grill at home. There was also a large amount of gristle. The side items were good, but again did not have the quality that was expected. After the steks we decided to cut our losses and skip dessert. Bottom line is this is a loud and cramped restarant that commands a high price for their menu and does not deliver the goods. Maybe just a nice place for cocktails and appetizers.
Good intentions aren't enough – The staff at Kenny's is very engaging but in an area abounding with excellent restaurants,
friendly servers aren't enough.
Kenny's menu isn't large and the offerings do sound appetizing. However, just about everything ordered by our party of six missed the mark.
The clam chowder was tasty, but gritty. And using a clam shell as garnish in the chowder itself is unappealing and dangerous.
The touted "puck" size crab cake appetizer was artfully served but the single crab cake was no bigger than standard, yet priced at over eleven dollars.
On the other hand, the pop-overs, a very welcomed break from the ubiquitous crusty
bread, were large - unfortunately, too large to maintain the characteristics of a good pop-over. They were bready and heavy and cooled to leather before they could be consumed. I hope Kenny's refines their recipe and presentation because a good pop-over is a thing of beauty.
The salads were just okay.
The biggest disappointments were the 16oz ribeyes which were ordered by two in our party. Both steaks were properly cooked to order, but one steak was almost all fat and the other almost all gristle. Gristle is unacceptable at any price and totally outrageous at $27.
And the restaurant is entirely too noisy for conversation, polite or otherwise. We almost resorted to texting our dinner conversation.
One other thing: they serve wine in large goblets. If the wine were served in the appropriate sized wine glasses, none in our party would have questioned the per glass price. However, everyone commented on the "skimpy" portion of wine because the large glass was less than a quarter filled.
Kenny's heart is in the right place. Their website gushes, "If there is absolutely anything we can do to make your experience more enjoyable please let us know." I fear after the "trendy" wears off, and despite Kenny's eagerness to please, patrons will go to quieter restaurants with better and less pricey fare.
Don't Miss this – In the age of fast food and chains, Kenny's is a ray of bright light in a sea of mediocrity. Kenny continues to do a great job and the food is spectacular. Portions very generous and love the personal touch you get when you go there. He'll do anything you want. Kenny is the DUDE! His staff is great and the bartenders are like your buds! Can't get there enough!
Great Food – The quality and presentation of the food was amazing. Wine is priced reasonably, although it was not temperature controled. Nice decor and good service.
Addison chophouse grills and smokes prime cuts of meat and fresh seafood in an elegant, relaxed setting. – In Short
Red brick, polished wood and subdued lighting create a warm, inviting atmosphere where diners enjoy New England style seafood dishes and sizzling steaks. Starters include garlicky steamed mussels in marinara sauce and savory crab cakes. Entrees come with a choice of sides, mostly cheese accented starches. Standouts are the baked fish stuffed with ritz cracker and shellfish in a lemon butter sauce and the java pork tenderloin in mango jalapeno sauce.
