Nicola's Ristoranre Italiano.
We have been loyal patrons of this Nicolas restaurant since the mid 90's when it was still at the Galleria Mall in Dallas, TX. It recently moved to this location at the Shops at Legacy, in Plano,
TX.
Today, 09/24/2010 - dinner time at 7:00 PM... Terry was the Manager on duty. Three(3) major mistakes/disservices was conveyed to the Terry:
1. ) Pinot Grigio was not delivered during appertizer courses.
2. ) When Entrees dishes was delivered, waiter/bus-boy did not extend himself to set down the plate, but he gave the hot plate to my daughter and asked her to handle it. He did not want set the plate down because he could not /did not want to reach out. Terry, the Manager was thereand did not cover for him.
3). Waitress took order to split an Entre for my wife and I. They completely missed this one.
I called Terry out and conveyed to him. Immediately, 10 minutes after, the waitress came to take desert orders from us, she wanted to clean out the plates and silverwares, she told my daughter to hand over the silverware. This is an Italian waitress. She should be very much aware of European dinning/waitress protocol... I told her that I lived in EU for many years... Does she know any up-scale restaurants in Italy with waiters/waitresses ask customers to hand out plates/silverwares to waiting staffs...She said "no"...then she apologized...
What was so fascinating is that I just told the Manager 15 minutes earlier. I asked her whether she is aware of my feedback....she was honest and told me that Terry did inform her of the same. It was evident that this restaurant staff members and management were not properly trained.
It is a very cuisine and nice ambiance restaurant for fine dining. However, the service tonight was extremely disappointing. For the price and location, one would expect first class services. They try and pretend to be one, but it is just only 1 step above Olive Garden. Maccarroni and Grill services are even better than this.
It is ashamed that the owner invests so much resources into this fine restaurant but the services really spoiled the good cuisine and ambiance.…
Best Restaurant in Dallas.
I am not a frequent restaurant goer but I do recognize exceptional service when I see it. My wife and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and we could not have been happier with our
delightful, young waitress ShaSha. She helped guide me through your expansive wine list and helped us pick out a great Cabernet. She went on to suggest the shrimp appetizer which was outstanding, my wife had a veal steak and I had spaghetti with lobster. It was delicious and tasted very authentic Italian. Thank you Nicolas for a romantic and unforgettable evening.

WILL NEVER GO BACK!!.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had (and absolutely the worst service I have ever seen - thanks Zach U).
Highlights: One meal being under cooked leaving a bitter foul taste in our mouth for many hours (pasta was CHEWY...could not chew through the calamarie...and the clams were just not edible)...the other meal... was fine but wasn't what was ordered (the person bringing it to the table nor the waiter even cared!).
Waiter was not intrested in answering our menu questions rather he just said..."it's all great" nor did he review any of the appetizers or desserts.
Being busy is ok but his tone with us was that he just didn't care about his employer or his employers guests.
Our entire evening was us apologizing for asking him anything knowing he was busy... "...can we have some bread?" (asked 4 times). Could we have some balsomic vinegar (asked 4 times and it never came).
Loved this: The waiter seeing that my Fiance was quite DONE with his pasta asked if he could take his plate... yes: fine... then he asks me and I said no that I wasn't done AND HE TAKES MY PLATE ANYWAY! So one meal was beyond horrible...the other one was taken away before EVEN HALF of the meal was consumed.
Guess there's a reason most people were wearing shorts rather than attire suited for upscale dining.
We'll never come back - and that's ok! We'll spend our money elsewhere.…
To impress you or a client at lunch go here!. Wow what a FANTASTIC Italian restaurant! I went to Nicolas Italian Restaurant in Plano a few weeks ago and did not see what I felt like eating for lunch on the menu. I explained to the waiter that I would love one of the salads on the menu with salmon instead of shrimp or chicken and he was very accommodating. When the salad came it was the LARGEST cut of salmon I have ever seen on top of a salad. The salmon was the absolute best salmon I have had in Texas as well ( I am from California so salmon swims in streams close by and is the freshest around) The salmon on my salad tasted like they caught it that day. The dressing ( house) on the salad was the perfect compliment and the ice tea superb! I can not say enough about the service, quality of food and atmosphere at this shops at legacy in Plano Italian Restaurant! Just divine. If you are looking for an excellent lunch in a beautiful setting in Plano, go to Nicolas the pricing was reasonable as well.! Well done Culinaire! You are keeping up with your reputation as always! Signed a new fan.…
Service was comparable to a casual restaurant, main entree disappointing.
I loved the atmosphere and decor.
The service was disappointing. My martini glass was empty; the waiter asked if I wanted another, which I replied yes, it was a Dirty Martini. I waited a while; my two dinner companions still had pretty full glasses. Then when they finished he asked all three of us if we wanted another drink. Again, I told him a Dirty Martini, with the house vodka.
He brought me a straight up Grey Goose Martini (upgraded) I then requested that he add olive juice to it because I requested a dirty martini and he said, "you didn't ask for a dirty martini, but sure, I will we get you some olive juice" My two companions said, yes we heard you twice request a dirty martini. He left and came back almost immediately and took my martini glass away. ( I guess he was just going to bring me the olive juice? ) He said he would have the olive juice added and the martini reshaken. I ended up paying for the upgraded Grey Goose martini, even though I didn't request it.
Then there was the food. The Calamari was WONDERFUL! Highly recommended. The entree was very disappointing. It was the Lasagnetta. (Chicken and artichoke lasagna. The chicken was overcooked and dry.
The Zabaglione Gratinato for dessert was also wonderful, so I am guessing that I just happened to get a bad choice for an entree.
Overall I was just disappointed, doubt I will go back.…
