In Short – Culinary wunderkind Doug Brown of Beyond the Box catering and takeout fame is behind this contemporary lounge and restaurant. A cool color palate of sky blue, celadon, blond wood, and brushed steel lends a mellow feel. Starters include shrimp shots spiked with tomato, avocado and horseradish. Bleu cheese fried chicken is served with brown sugar beans and apple slaw sides. Save room for warm beignets.

What to Drink:
Move over pomegranate, passion fruit is the new hot cocktail ingredient. Try it in the signature passion fruit mojito, a refreshing mix of mint, cane rum, soda, and limejuice.
When to Go:
A live DJ spins House and Funk music on weekends.

thoroughly enjoyable

by eddydale at Citysearch

On our last visit to Dallas, a local recommended Amuse. We tried it and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and evening. The menu selection was more than adequate with a nice wine list. Our server was attentive and answered all our questions. Parking was convenient and secure. We now urge friends visiting Dallas to give it a try because Amuse offers an outstanding meal at a reasonable price.

  • Pros: atmosphere and service

Quite frankly, Amuse Restaurant and Lounge changed my life.

by bulagoalie at Citysearch

Okay... So maybe that is pushing it a little but the food here will make you see heavenly visions. Not so much in that psychodelic mushroom sort of a way, but more like in a "Robert Tilton put your hand on the screen and pray with me" kind of way. I have been to Amuse a good number of times since they opened last year and I have yet to find something I did not enjoy. My favorite is the Lamb Shank. We are talking Fred Flintstone sized bone-in shank that is tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth with a perfect touch of mediterranean spices. This thing is bigger than Barry Bonds' head but I am sure it tastes much better. It comes with a cous-cous laced with almonds and golden rasins along with tangine spiced veggies. Do yourself a favor and take some of this home with you to make cold lamb sandwiches for lunch. That way you will be able to enjoy an appetizer of Mussles in a Chorizo and White Wine broth, an Endive Salad with crunchy walnuts and dried apples, and a S'mores Fondue for dessert. Guys, order the S'mores because it will seal the deal, if you know what I mean... Homemade graham crackers dusted with powedered sugar served with a bowl full of rich, sweet, thick chocolate sauce that is then topped with marshmallow cream. Then they take fire to this thing and toast the marshmallow. None of this can even be thought about without booze. Of course, I can't roll out of bed without booze. I kid. Anyway, it's the first thing any waiter asks you when he get's to the table. What can I bring you to drink? The answer has to be the Strawberry Basil Mojito. This place loves their mojitos as well they should because they make you want to apologize to everyone you have even wronged in your life. The Strawberry Basil is made with fresh strawberries, mint, basil, Ten Cane Rum, and ginger ale. That is great to get you started but when that Lamb Shank arrives you will want to get a bottle of Broquel Malbec to pair with. I once was lost and now I am found... at Amuse

  • Pros: The GM has a jeweled stud in her nose... and she's is hot.
  • Cons: She's dating some loser with curly hair like a girl.

great brunch, fun lunch and favorite Tuesday Night 1/2 Price Burgers

by triohairstylist at Citysearch

My first experience was at brunch on my birthday December 2006. I always wanted to order steak and eggs at some point in life. It always sounds good on TV. I loved it perfect steak and they actually listened when I said well done. eggs over easy and a non alcoholic bloody mary. The waiter made me the perfect blend eventhough i could have made my own. The portion was so big I took half home with me. My second experience was for dinner we ordered the ceaser tacos as appetizers. This is their signature dish, as we were crunching and munching the table catty-cornered to us ordered them as well. This set off a domino effect. The table behind us got them and the table three down from us as well. They are yummy. Then we ordered our burgers. My friend had the blue chesse and I had the, well I made my own burger. I had bacon, cheddar cheese and bar-be-cue sauce. That was heavenly, and I am a burger a day kinda girl. I love burger night so much that i put it on myspace calendar. Yesterday I had lunch there. I don't usually eat that much for lunch so I ordored appetizer combo style. I had the ceasar tacos, salmon cones and salmon croquettes. Now I'm not a big fish eater but these were great. The best part was meeting the chef Jesse Gentile, he was very accommodating with my appetizer combo style ordering. I'm even thinking about having my rehearsal dinner there.

  • Pros: parking, dessert, eat at the bar, great for happy hours, birthday parties, dates, patio, across from great venues
  • Cons: not best for many kids, delivery for dinner only

Great relaxed place

by katkib at Citysearch

I love this place!! I feel like I can stop by anytime and get a bit to eat. It is not stuffy here and the staff is very knowledgeable about the food and the wine list. I love the fact they accomidate my vegetarian diet. The place makes me feel welcomed and relaxed. Parking is very easy as there is a lot right outside the door. I love to sit on the patio and look at downtown Dallas and sip and mojito which they make very very very well. I can bring anyone there and they love it.

If you want a resturant that is relaxed and has great food and service then this a must try. If you just want to stop by and get a little something then sit in the bar area and order from the tapas menu. The goat cheese tapas are my absolute favorite!

  • Pros: Easy and affordable
  • Cons: None

great hang out

by cowboy84 at Citysearch

I have to say I was quite impressed with this venue, even though it is not typically a place i would choose to go. My experiences at Amuse have been some of the best times i have had in a restaurant. The service was unparralled, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was right on the money. My favorite thing about this place was definately the staff, I have never been so welcomed in a place like I have here. The bartender made a great drink, my favorite is definately a manhattan, and the ones I reveive here are some of the best I have had. The waitstaff here is also some of the most attentive and friendly that I have come in contact with. My favorite dish at Amuse is definately the ahi tuna nicoise. It is perfectly rare and served with carmalized onion mashed potatoes, french beans, tomatoes, and olives. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food and good people because this place has the best of both.

  • Pros: everything especialy the free parking
  • Cons: nothing comes to mind
