Leftover Fried Masa Meat? – Tried this location since the newer one they had in Frisco was closed down(that one was great). Ordered fried pork meat (masas) and seem to been baked and quickly fried or were left overs, but surely not fresh. My partner ordered the same and concurred and left the whole plate. The meat tasted like lechon(roasted pig) and that's not how this dish should taste. Oddly all else was well cooked.
Food is ok, attitude is terrible. – What a shame this is. Someone worked very hard to open a restaurant and use their family recipes. There are mixed reviews on Yelp and Citysearch. I dined there and planned to write about it in a newspaper for which I am the restaurant editor despite the lackluster service and the waitresses' inability to answer simple questions about the food. When I called several days later, they STILL would not give me answers to the questions- like "is the pastry for the cream cheese and guava dessert made from scratch?" - and said they were not allowed to send me a copy of their menu. Turns out I found the to-go menu I had taken with me when I was there, and could have used it as a reference. But because they repeatedly hung up on me and were extremely difficult, I have decided not to write about them at all. And, of course, I'll never go back as a customer.
Caribbean Cafe needs some help – I was excited about going to the Caribbean Cafe because of the great reviews. I took two friends with me and to my chagrin the service was mediocre, the Margaritas , though good, one of the margarita was served immediately the other two came about ten minutes later. The Vaca Frita, Fried Shredded beef with garlic, onions, and citrus juices, was dry. Could have been an excellent dish. The Filete de Tilapia al Vino, Fish Fillet Sauted in wine, was pretty good. The fried Plantains were hard dry and could have been used as a Frisbee. Also we all ask for sauteed vegetables and instead we were all served rice. We will not be back.
Great place – It's a great quaint family run place. The food is authentic, I have taken a few people and everyone has loved it. We have to go at least three times a month. The staff are fantastic and make us feel like family. As a Cuban I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
Cuban yes yes all the way! – I went to the rest. w/ no expectations since recently went to S. FL and had great Cuban food there... the truth is that I was very surprised how good the food was.
Very tasty nothing fancy but tasty... I def. recommend this place for a taste of Cuba. Now that I finally tried it I'm coming back soon, that;s for sure!
authentic Cuban cuisine???????? – SOME PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT
authentic Cuban cuisine??? REALLY IS .THE REASON IS B'CAUSE THEY HAVE NOW A LONG TIME THEY HAVEN'T TASTED OR SEEN IT.
THE 7.00 SANDWICH LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF PLYWOOD.IS BY NO MEANS BETTER THAN THE ONE MY WIFE MAKE AT HOME ANY SINGLE DAY.AND SHE'S NOT EVEN CUBAN.(ONLY ME).CHEAP SANDWICH,YOU 'LL MAKE A BETTER ONE AT HOME,PROBALLY COST NO MORE THAN $1.00.THE REST I'LL LEAVE TO YOU.I DON'T LIKE THE WAY THEY DO IT.
Amazing cuban food – This Restaurant is amazing after moving here from Miami 5 years ago I craved cuban food cuz its all I would eat in Miami,I was amazed at how good the food was I recommend it to everyone!!!
BEST AUTHENTIC CUBAN FOOD AROUND – This place is fabulous from the flavorful food to the great service. It is packed on the weekend nights with live music and lots of locals! The Enchaladas de Camerones are FANTASITIC! I eat here monthly! It is a great place to take clients for lunch as well!
Excellant Food and service – The ONLY authentic Cuban restaurant I have found in Dallas. The food is fantastic and the service is very friendly. This is one of my favorite restaurants! i suggest the Ropa Vieja....so delicious! Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Avoid it at luch time and probably at dinner too! – Hello All,
Expect to pay around $12 to $18 for almost anything at lunch except the cuban sandwich wich- as they state on the menu- is made with french bread instead. This cuban sandwich cost $7.00 just by itself. No fries, or plantains or drink is included unless you request it and you happen to be serve by one of the direct family member owners, if they are having a good day.
The tast of the food? Just ordinary rice and beans you can cook in you own house. Stakes that are hard to shew and fried plantains that you can get in any brasilian restaurant too. Ah, expect it to be cold by the time they bring it out.
The service? Unfriendly and cold. They seem very timid in there exect to let you know they wont do an exeption with you to add french fries to your sandwich.
I was just disapointed by everything. Come on, you can go to a nice place to each with $15.00 other than a "authentic cuban restaurant"
