Unprofessional and Rude Service

by MaMarkee at Citysearch

We were inspired to try Aboca's because they were featured on a restuarant certificate website. We spent $50 buying an Aboca certificate and headed to the restaurant. That is where our 3-generation night out went South. We were told (without an explanation as to why) that they aren't accepting certificates from that website anymore. We asked to please speak to the owner as there must be a mistake. We were able to purchase this certificate only an hour before arrival at Aboca. We were now out $50 and have no way of getting the $ back. Aboca receives the $ from the restaurant website. As this was purchased in Good Faith, certainly the restaurant would honor it...was my thinking. I was wrong. The owner came from the back... and in a very rude and disregarding manner, got inches from my 75 year old father's face and said, "We don't take those anymore, now get out of here!" He then turned and walked away. My 5 year old daughter witnessed all of this. I can't believe this man is in the service industry. Shame on him for treating my family that way. It is fortunate for Abocas that they have loyal regulars as I don't see them getting any new customers with their rude reception and service. We will never be back. We will continue to go to Amore on Coit. It, too, is an Albanian-run BYOB Italian restaurant. The difference is they greet you with a smile and have enough integrity to honor a purhase that has already been made.

Really Great Italian Food

by JudyRN at Citysearch

This place is GREAT!! We have had few mediocre to bad experiences with Italian food lately, but this was a delight. The atmosphere was great, the staff polite and efficient, and the food was FANTASTIC. The bread and olive oil with garlic and herbs is to die for. I have never had decent cannelloni in Dallas, but Aboca's has GREAT cannelloni. We will definitely make this our Italian Restaurant of choice. Do your self a favor and give it a try. The portions are huge, and the food is served piping hot. Kudos to Aboca's.

above average Italian food

by Olif at Citysearch

we've been there several times and I must say, we never had a problem with the service as others suggested here. Their food is above average (HUGE PORTIONS!!) so it is worth trying out. Would I say that this is my favorite Italian place in town? NO! But it's still pretty good...

  • Pros: very good veal dishes
  • Cons: not the nicest place inside

Very Rude Service

by TXJim at Citysearch

I must agree with Togofar. Our group experienced the rudest, most unprofessional service we have ever encountered (bar none). One of the females in our group also stated that the ladie's room was "nasty" dirty. I think they were also having a problem with their grease trap that night. Although this was not our first dining experience at Aboca's, it was certainly the last for all of us.

Just like Mom's ...

by Yankee Boy at Citysearch

Coming from a 100% Italian family , Aboca's is the best home cooking this Yankee has come across in Texas.

I am a native Bostonian who moved to Texas in 1996. I was home sick for some good Italian food until I was introduced to an Italian Restaurant called Pisano's that my friends said I had to experience. Well it was excellent. They made me feel like a family member. The food was always hot and plentiful. I have since moved back to Boston, but still visit about 2-3 times per year and always make a point of eating at what is now called Aboca's Italian Grill .... I'm going tonight !

So all you Yankee's out there looking for real authentic Italian cooking..... Aboca's is the place.... mangia !!!
