Great place for Happy Hour!. State & Allen has a really good Happy Hour, my co-workers and I stopped in this past Friday and had a great time. The food here is also very well done! Even though its getting cold out, their patio has heaters, so you can still enjoy the outdoors, but not freeze! Love it!!!!…
Casual and Relaxed. This is a favorite spot of mine as a former Uptown dweller. Great spot for watching the game while scarfing down fantastic pizza. The waitstaff is always accomodating and the outdoor patio scene is fantastic for great people watching. I gaurantee you will see someone walk by that is worth checking out.…
Recession-friendly menu lets you enjoy the good life..... On Monday, you can order half-price gourmet pizzas. Tuesdays are my favorite: a barbecue pulled pork chopped salad (WITH a drink) for only $7.95. And every other night of the week they offer a meal with a drink for under 8 bucks as well, whether it's fish tacos or a pasta bowl or fish 'n' chips with spicy coleslaw. I'm hard pressed to find a better deal in Uptown, never mind a homemade meal with such high-quality ingredients. Their service is great too! Can't recommend highly enough.…
Great people watching, great salads, great cocktails.
Now that spring has sprung you can find me at State & Allen twice a week, ordering a Silver Bowl Salad and sipping the martini of the week. As for the Silver Bowl, it's got chopped romaine lettuce
with grapes, bacon, mandarin oranges, and a spicy chicken that is the end-all, be-all of chicken. I don't know what they do to it, but it is what all chickens aspire to. Their dessert menu is fab too: try the Margarita Cheesecake with the fleur de sel. It's TLE... that's The Living End for the uninitiated.
Add that to your chance to spot some a medley of passersby that includes cutiepie dogs, 'interesting' fashion choices, and droolworthy fellas, you've got a winning combination.…
Try the pizza at State & Allen!.
I just had their Sausage and Sauteed Pepper pizza for lunch and it was incredible, the best pizza I've had here in Dallas... they use sausage from Jimmy's Italian Grocery, which I can't resist. I had
a hard time choosing between that and the Wild Mushroom Pizza, with garlic butter sauce and gouda cheese. My girlfriend chose the cream of tomato soup, with a cute and unexpected twist: it had little grilled cheese sandwiches as 'croutons.'
It's an American casual restaurant, but you can tell the chefs keep up with the trends and are passionate about the important things in life, i.e., WINE AND CHEESE. I'll definitely be coming back, perhaps for their wine dinner.…
