In Short
Begun in Milan, Bice is a culinary empire named after family matriarch "Bice," short for Beatrice. The decor includes signature hardwood floors in contrasting blond and Brazilian cherry and a bar gleaming with the patina of varnish and brass. A large selection of hot and cold antipasti such as tuna carpaccio in pistachio dressing is prelude to entrees such as beef tenderloin sauteed in wine and truffle sauce. Popular desserts include light and creamy tiramisu.

I love to eat and drink. I can not say that I am a regular of Bice ( I can not afford to be a regular.. ) but whenever my friend and I feel like to have a treat to ourselves, we will go there. I never thought of writing a review because I am not that professional to do so. However, by reviewing others? bad experiences, I am very surprised. Bice is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I like the decoration and atmosphere. I like the service they provide. There was one time my friend only had a couple bits of her main course, the Chef even came out to find out the reason and offered the alternative, something special made just for her at that night. I love the food there, especially the Tartar di tonno. It melted in my mouth and made me craving for more after one bit. They have fine Italian wine selections. My favorite is 2005 Tenuta Cold?orcia. You can just test it alone or ask the Manager or Chef for food recommendation. This red always performs a wonderful role. I always have trouble in ordering dessert because I love most of them. My friend is a big fan of Tris di Dolcezze??. There are a lot of good restaurants in Dallas and I still rate Bice is one of the top five on my ?craving list?. We are going back very soon.

We were very impressed with the atmosphere when we entered and really liked the place, especially the cozy bar area. However, we were greated by an ignorant waitor who knew nothing about the menu beside "oh the pasta here is really good" and asked us the same questions repeatedly. But we tried to overlook him and enjoy our diner anyway. I had the seared ahi tuna and my husband had the beef, veal, and spinach stuffed ravioli. The tuna was the blandest ahi tuna I have EVER had in my life. It was on a bed of spinach that had no flavor either. There was a mild sauce sprinkled around the plate but it wasn't strong enough to give the tuna any flavor. I got a few bites down and after that I couldn't stand to stuff another bite of basically plain tuna sushi w/o any flavor down my throat. My husband finished it. My husbands plate was much better, although it too lacked flavor. The ravioli's were a little tough around the edges, but still managed to be the best part of the dish. The sauce was missing something...it was just like a mild mushroom gravy....needed a little kick. The waitor kept disapearing for 5 minutes everytime we asked a question....he had to go find out the answers and took forever. Even after all this, I would have given the place another chance thinking that maybe it was just an "off" night. But about 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant we both had a major "bathroom emergency" if you know what I mean. Don't know what it was, but an easy quess would be the tuna. I will NEVER eat here agin!

We ate here early September and returned on a Friday later that month. On the basis of this most recent experience we will not be returning. Our waiter did a disappearing act after serving our dessert (we were on the patio); the host/manager was smoozing with 2 friends and the other waiter serving the patio would not have eye contact with us. We were trying to get our check--to do so we had to go inside and ask for it at the hostess' station. Our waiter never re-appeared. No-one except the hostess tried to rectify the situation. Overall, I'd say the place is suffering from poor or non-existent management and a "couldn't care less" attitude from the wait staff. Our experience earlier in the year had been good. Though if they know you well--and you order champagne--you will get fussed over. The pastas (incl risottos) are good, but the main courses are not very exciting. On my earlier visit the "recommended" buffalo prime rib was tough. For this level of pricing, you can get much better food, good service and nicer people at many other places in and around down town Dallas.
