Best Yoga Studio Period
by Nikie4387 at Citysearch
I walked into American Power yoga in early February of this year with no knowledge of yoga and had no idea what to expect. Little did I know my lifestyle and health was about to change dramatically. The instructors there create classes that were easy to follow, clear, fun, and best of all welcoming. The more often I walked in the studio the more I uncovered the depths of who I was physically and spiritually. I can now say I am the healthiest and happiness I have been in my life. Each class allows for you to customize to your personal limits whether it is your first time or you have been practicing for 10 years. I am challenged every time I go and it never gets boring (unlike sunstone and Bikram). I have been to many other studios and they are not even comparable to APY. If you have the smallest desire to explore yoga CHECK APY OUT!!
- Pros: Will change your life
- Cons: There is only one studio
Best Yoga in Dallas!!
by fiorettigina at Citysearch
This studio is great! I have practiced yoga for 8 years, all over the country and this is one of the best studios I have been to! and it is one of the cheapest!! All of the instructors are super friendly and they have their own styles but still maintain the message and strength of the class. I always feel like I get the class I need for the day. It is great for beginners too, all the classes offer modifications. They also have massage and acupuncture .
- Pros: teachers are great! parking! lose weight!
What happened to APY?
by APYMember at Citysearch
I am a APY member and could never stop raving about APY. For whatever reason, the APY instructors that I love have either left or significantly reduced their schedules. In their place are brand new APY trainees, some of whom have a lot of potential but are no means comparable to the instructors who have left. Now, everytime I look at the schedule, it is a brand new person teaching and generally a very BASIC class. I leave feeling like I overpaid, annoyed, and not relaxed. Please fix this problem or this APY member is going else where.
- Pros: Paid for membership
- Cons: The instructors
Changed my mind

This used to be a great community yoga studio, where you didn?t mind the sweat puddles on the floor or the ceiling falling down, because the person at the desk or the teacher knew your name. But now it is less about you and more about there bottom line: it is not cheap, the schedule changes too much, most classes are taught by novices, and there is a ?security? camera in the studio to monitor everything you do. Dallas has one of the best yoga communities in the world: great teachers, great spaces, challenging power yoga classes?don?t waste your time with a has-been studio like this where they really are not nice.
- Pros: parking
- Cons: not power, not yoga
I cannot say enough great things about APY.

After visiting many of the local yoga studios before claiming a "home", I chose American Power Yoga to develop a practice because of the knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging instructors. APY's philosophy is demonstrated in each class: that each pose isn't bad or good, it just is. In learning to be accepting of where you are in a pose, you are taught to accept each of life's situations as well...that you can breathe through anything, that nothing is worth giving your breath away, to stay present, and to release expectation. Yes, APY provides an intense and powerful workout, but more importantly, the teachers provide an opportunity to understand a way of life, an ability to "let go", and an opportunity to open up to the moment. I highly recommend American Power Yoga, both professionally, as a licensed clinical psychologist, and personally.
- Pros: Very friendly, expert Instructors; classes throughout the day; All levels can participate
- Cons: sometimes teachers run over an hour...this can be a pro, depending on your schedule
