Tips for Central Park

2.0
June 30, 2007

Beware!. I had high expectations for Central Park. When I first arrived there on a Friday night I was pleased. There were a lot of nice looking people and it was a friendly atmosphere. But after midnight, everything changed. First off, it was HOT AS HELL. Their A/C was not on, and this was a steamy June night. Totally unacceptable. The crowd was unbearable, especially on the second floor. You couldn't move, yet you felt the floor move every 5 seconds or so. Now I know bars like to be loud and have lots of music, but Central Park needs to learn how to balance sound. The DJ is on the first floor, and the sound is relatively OK. On the second floor, however, they piped his music in there and the noise was ridiculous. Finally, the bar service was atrocious. I waited for over 20 minutes with my arms on the bar, cash in hand, waiting to get served. The bartenders were incompetent. I'll never go there again on my own free will...but if I'm forced to go, I'll steer clear of the upstairs.

Uptown sports bar boasts casual atmosphere and 18 TVs outfitted with high-definition format.. In Short
Like its sibling Knox Street Pub, this Uptown sports bar serves as a funky, casual watering hole in an otherwise upscale neighborhood. Not too funky though, with 18 flat-screen TVs, all hi-def, and a clean-swept brick patio up front, where patrons can look down on who's coming and going. The TVs lure sports fans on game nights; on weekends, it's locals doing the mating dance, garbed in peek-a-boo tops and trendy jeans.
