This place was lame.
After checking the website and deciding to give the hype a chance, my man and I hit this club. The house music sucked---far better in the lounge downstairs at the W. It was hilarious getting in---there was NO ONE I. This club was almost empty on sat night, yet the two door ppl (man and woman) made sure to ask us if we "were on the guest list or had a reservation.". I laughed and said no, of course---this being the truth. They let us in. We take the lift upstairs to find about 10 ppl in the entire place. Which I loved, actually. No waiting for bathrooms or drinks. Too bad the music wasn't that great. My husband and I fly to D.C., L.A., and New York to hear DJ's spin, so this was not impressive to us at all. A lot of pretension (which I like becuz it intimidates the scum factor out of the equation) for no discernible reason. My man and I actually got bored and went downstairs and chilled in the lounge, which had great house music, service, and interesting people. I liked the bar because of the gorgeous view, fabulous patio overlooking the city, and because it was dead, which meant we got everything we wanted, when we wanted it.
I'll go back if I want a chill, not too crazy time where I can get buzzed and have a great view of the metroplex. But I wouldn't go back to listen to awesome house---it doesn't exist there.
Ghostbar. Not a bad place for Friday nights. the drinks were a little high price, but still good.
Not bad, Not Good. I went to the Ghostbar on Friday night for the first time and to be completely honest, I wasn't overwhelmed or underwhelmed. After an amazing dinner at Craft (which I definitely recommend) my date and I went to the Ghostbar to grab a drink and check out the scene. The music was decent and the crowd was relatively small for midnight on a Friday night. The drinks were good but way too expensive. The best part was the view. I might go back again for a party but not on a date.
MUST AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I HAVE BEEN TO GHOST BAR SEVERAL TIMES BUT MY EXPERIENCE LAST NIGHT WAS QUITE MEMORABLE. THE BAR WAS CROWDED AS EXPECTED BUT MY FRIEND AND I WAITED 45 MINUTES TO BE EVEN ASKED FOR ORDERS. WHEN MY FRIEND (IN FRONT OF ME) FINALLY GETS THE BARTENDER AND TELLS HIM HOW LONG WE'VE WAITED AND WE'D LIKE TO ORDER, HE FLAT OUT SAID "SHUT THE F*** UP" TO HER FACE. OF COURSE MY FRIEND IS TOO NICE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE DESPICABLE RESPONSE BUT SHE WAS SO UPSET THAT SHE WENT HOME RIGHT AWAY. I, ON THE OTHER HAND, WAS SO PISSED OFF THAT I TOLD THE MANAGER AND, OF COURSE, HIS RESPONSE IS "MY GUYS WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT BUT I'LL TALK TO HIM". LIKE BARTENDER LIKE MANAGER. TALK TO HIM MY ASS!
I RECENTLY MOVED FROM NEW YORK CITY AND I'VE HAD A FAIR SHARE OF RUN-INS WITH ATTITUDE AT CLUBS, BUT NEVER WAS IT THIS INHUMANE. IT'S NOT A MATTER OF "HOW TO TREAT A WOMAN OR A CUSTOMER", YOU JUST DON'T TALK LIKE THAT TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES. I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT A**HOLES DO EXIST IN DALLAS, AND THEY ALL WORK AT GHOST BAR.
my wedding night. As a gift to us my best friend of 36 years arranged our wedding nite stay and clubing at the ghost bar. I decided i was going to wear my dress all day and all nite and i did .The staff and patrons were so very respectful to me and my dress.Every where I would walk full train and all ,the sfaff and guest made an openning like the parting of the red sea for me.It was so awesome. Our wedding was on 6-7-8 at 3:45. Our 4 year old wasborn on 3-4-5. What a royal night it was!!! Can't wait to go back.On another note we had been there before and we had a blast!! Thanks so very much Wendy Wilks
Great Service and Atmosphere.
This is a bar where what you 'should' expect is what you get. Atop the W Hotel, with it's beautiful view (as good as the city of Dallas can get), and classy yet fun atmosphere, people should realize what the pros and cons are already going to be. You 'are' going to have the pretentiousness and feeling of superiority exuding from a lot of the people who go there, and you 'are' going to have to spend some money. The drinks aren't cheap. But if you are looking for cheap drinks, what are you doing at Ghostbar, a bar renowned for the attendance of the snooty and rich, in the first place? Even if you've heard nothing about it, most people can see the very building that hosts it and immediately know just what you're getting into. Don't be surprised by the "overpriced drinks" and pompous "douches." Oh, that's all true about this place. However, Ghostbar gets 5 stars from me because it fulfills the image that it sets out to create. They want it to be upscale, they want it to be expensive, and they want to act like a bunch of self-involved bitches. Good for them! They attract the kind of clientelle that will spend money, whether or not they have it, and do a good job of it. So the point is this, go there on those days when you feel particularly entitled. When you want to feel important for a night, and when you just want to act like hot sh*t. Just have the money to do so... If you're not rich, you don't have to be, just act like it for one night and you'll be treated accordingly. It's all about the mood... If you're not in the mood to be surrounded by the young, SMU daddy's girls and self-righteous strippers (who always seem so sophisticated with their wine glasses, then love to practice their new moves anywhere in the bar), or the men who scam on them (older, suit-wearing types, or young Affliction/Ed Hardy, sunglasses-wearing jerks)... then don't go.
This doesn't go without saying that as with all bars, restaurants, clubs et cetera, you have a certain level of service. If I completely hated this place, the one thing I would comment on is the service. From the bartenders to the wait staff (all definitely adding to the aesthetics of the place), they were all on their game, and I give them props for that.
nice place ,if you are looking for nothing. i read all the reviews and comments about this place.here's my take on it.the view was magnificent, decor ok,we got there about 9pm thursday,it may have been 20 people there.just chilling.i dont remember any of the music(thats not good for any bar)i had no problems with any of the staff, and that in its self surprised me (considering how toasted i was) we had a couple of drinks there and left .overall it was pretty nice, thanks ghost bar,we will be back.
Two thumbs up. Me and my lady friend went there on monday 12/29/08 and a had good time. The view was off the hook. I heard about those mixed drink being watered down didn't even get that. I just got some wine. The drink are kind of on the expensive side. If all else fell takes some shots. Nice Atmosphere and the music was good(depends on the DJ). That particular night was one of those time if I could freeze time I would. I had that good of a time. The thing i didn't like was standing in that long line. So if you go go early.
Not worth it.
I have been to Ghost Bar a handful of times, but after my most recent visit, I will never go there again. A group of us got there pretty late (around 1am) and were with a group who was already inside. One of the bouncers remembered me from the last time I had been there, but said it was up to the guy at the door to let me, my husband, and our out of town friends in. When we got to the door, the bouncer was rude, sarcastic and demeaning, and on top of that was going to charge the guys $40 to get in (you know for sure he was going to pocket the money). We went inside to talk with the other doorman, but were also snubbed. I don't know if it's because we were late, or because they didn't think we had the "right look" or what, but both doormen were completely disrespectful. As we were leaving, the outside bouncer made some more rude comments to us.
I don't think this bar is worth going to at all. The crowd is okay, but better can definitely be found in Dallas. I am not sure why the bouncers think they are better than everyone and that they can treat people disrespectfully. The servers and bartenders are fine and I have no complaints about them.
I have been to Ghost Bar plenty of times, and gotten in with no problem. But it is still not even worth it once you actually get past the rude staff.
