A second chance wasted. Pathetic.
I thought after one bad experience I'd give them another shot, but it was deja vu as it unfolded the same way.
Horrible service. The waiter showed no courtesy nor even the slightest concern for anyone at our table. He acted as if we mattered not to him at all. He came only when food was ready and never otherwise checked on our drinks. Lacking promptness and conscience regarding drink refills, my friend sat for far too long with any empty glass. He attempted to take plates of unfinished food without so much as a glance at the person nor a question as to whether they were done or even if they wanted a to go box. Both this waiter and the waitress of my first visit gave me some of the worst service I've ever experienced at any restaurant.
The food was mediocre at best with not much taste nor zest. It could have been far worse but I'd honestly rather eat at Taco Bueno. Even the cashiers there would be more friendly than anyone working at this "upscale" restaurant.
I refuse to ever return to this restaurant even if they payed me to eat there.
High end food but disappointed with low end service..... I didn't mind paying the $$$ for the food; it was worth it! Yes, their made fresh at table side guacamole was phenomenal, the braised short rib was succulent served with the best sweet potatoes I ever had!!! But the service was not up to par with the food and the category of restaurant it?s supposed to be. We had to wait an hour and a half for a table that we had advance reservations for. The server butchered the pronunciation of restaurant?s name and our dishes did not come out all at the same time. You can imagine waiting almost two hours for your food the disappointed and hunger pains you feel watching your friends eat their food while still waiting for your dish to come out!!
Just not very enjoyable..
With all the good restaurants in Dallas, it's just not worth wasting a night here.
Atmosphere: Thursday nights are bad at this place. They have a "band", but it's really one guy doing karaoke, and it's bad. Everybody is shouting to be heard over this guy. So it's a bad place to go if you want to have decent conversation with the people you're with.
Drinks: All the margarita machines were broken, so we couldn't have one. The drinks on the menu were crazy expensive, so we ordered beers instead, which were reasonable.
Food: Food is ok. Not better than what you can get at Gloria's or Chuy's. For the price you pay, you might expect something more, but you don't get it.
Service: Excellent. Wait staff is very good. No complaints.
Overpriced 'gourmet' Tex-mex..
The food was good, not memorable though. I was shocked when I got my ticket at the end of the meal. $100 for a meal for 2 that took less than an hour to complete? Perhaps it just was not my thing, but we could have gotten a meal more to our liking at Pappasito's (with drinks and an appetizer like we had) for less than 1/2 of the price at Trece. On top of that, no complimentary valet parking? Would have figured since we were patrons of the restaurant, the valet parking would be free...I mean, they do that at Abacus not too far away.
So, probably will not be back there. Just not our type of place.
Awesome service, AMAZING Chef. Trece is amazing, perfect for large parties, they are so on point and have the best service. I had a large client event here, and not only was the food amazing, the chef came out himself to say hello, thank you, and bring some off menu desserts that were the most amazing thing I've ever tasted in my life. I LOVE this place, and can't wait to be back in Dallas...
Service Not Included.
I love Restaurant Week. It is an opportunity for people to sample restaurants, for restaurants to
engage new customers and hopefully establish new client relationships. I was very much looking forward
to my meal at Trece for I had heard rave reviews about the food. Unfortunetly, my reservation was misplaced and their hostesses condescendingly blamed me for their inability to input information correctly into the computer. They were extremely rude and unhelpful even after i provided evidence of confirmation of reservation. My party of 5 left to eat across the street at Il Sole. It is unfortunate that an event like that can ruin your perception of a good restaraunt.
Pomegranate Margaritas!. For restaurant week I decided, through the luxury of my company to try Trece. I had vaguely heard of it but was not disappointed that I decided to try it on a whim. On arrival my dinner guest and I were informed that our table was not ready but was offered a complementry drink from the bar while we waited. I chose the Pomegranate Margarita and was not disappointed with my choice. The flavor was clearly Pomegranate and did not have the characteristic tart margarita flavor you get with lesser quality margaritas. We were seated shortly afterwards, but not before I was able to take in the eclectic mix of patrons surrounding the bar. Because of it being restaurant week the menu was an extremely condensed version. The choices, however, were not lacking in variety. I chose for my appetizer the 13 ingredient tortilla soup. I was surprised on how well the flavors blended together but were still distinct from each other. This was one of the best tortilla soups I have eaten. My entree was the grilled salmon served over a mexican style vermicelli. The salmon was cooked to perfection, not dry but not under done either. The pasta was flavored with an coriander cumin tomato based sauce and was the perfect cup size portion. I did not have dessert but my companions who had joined me for dinner enjoyed their immensely especially the passion fruit cheesecake. The experience was wonderful and the wait staff was knowledgable and helpful. I recommend for a special occasion to give this restaurant a try. You will not be disappointed!
Id go just for the HOSTESS.. this place was incredible. My experience at Trece' began with a stunningly beautiful hostess named Britttany. She immediatly made my night with great conversation and an incredible smile. I had no reservation but she informed me that that was not a problem and sat me down promptly laying my napkin in my lap and presenting me with the menu. Let's just say that the server would have a hard act to follow. My server was quick and informative, very classy and helped me decide what would best suit me to eat. I had the Budin Azteca and it was amazing. After finishing my wonderful meal complete with wonderful service, I was on my way out and again was presented with great conversation from Brittany. She asked how my meal was, I said great, she then said that she hoped that I would return and I told her of course, and she then thanked me for coming in which is something that many restaurants have a hard time doing. So thank you Trece' for my wonderful experience and thank you Brittany the Hostess for making my night amazing with your beauty!
After living on the east coast for so long, I moved to Dallas two years ago. I had heard so much about the Mexican food in Dallas, but quite honestly I was very disappointed, as it was almost exclusively Tex-Mex. New York and Chicago had must higher quality Mexican food than Dallas. Not anymore! I dined at Trece on Travis Street last week and I thought I died and went to heaven. The food, atmosphere, service and design were as good as I ever experienced on the east coast. The flavors were robust and the menu offerings were creative, while still being authentic. The chef, I believe his name is Amador came over to our table and described several of his dishes and even recommended a few. My girlfriend and I took the chef's advise and we were not disappointed. His lobster nachos were to die for and his budin asteca was addicting. I cannot wait to go back for the budin asteca! Service was attentive considering the place was so busy.
Now that Dallas has one of the best Mexican restaurants in the country, I do not miss Chicago as much!
Don't bother. We arrived on time for an 8:00 reservation. During our 1 hour and 15 minute wait we were told over and over that we were the next table to be seated. We watched as others walked out not willing to wait any longer for reservations that didn't make a difference. The hotesses were unprofessional and cared more about each other than taking care of customers. Once we were seated we were given free tequila shots that the manager told us "should improve our mood". What a crock. Oh ladies, don't go to the bathroom. Hold it until you get home. The doors open outward and someone had a bloody nose that evening from getting struck in the face with the bathroom door. The food was decent, nothing exceptional.
