Are they still open??.
This was one of my favorite Dallas music venues. I loved hearing the Freddy Jones band on Fridays each month and other bands as well. All of it wasn't to my liking but hey, we all have our
preferences.
My concern is that they look closed. The website is empty of music dates on the calendar.
Anybody confirm or deny this???
Thanks…
Amatuer Night @ The Pearl.
Myself and three friends went out last night to The Pearl. Our first problem came up at the door when we had to each pay a $15 cover for the band Soul Rebel. The door was only taking cash. They
were not able to charge the cover on a card at the bar, nor was the ATM working. We just happened to have the $60 needed for all four to enter.
The band didn't start until about 10:30pm. Meanwhile it was nearly impossible to get a drink with only two slow bartenders on hand, myself and many other around me waited in excess of 25 minutes to get a drink. After the first set, the band took a break around midnight. We used the break as an opportunity to put a piece of artwork we bought in the car. As we tried to reenter the bar, we were told we could not enter. Everybody was ordered to exit the bar. They had sold too many tickets and were over capacity for the venue. Supposedly, the fire marshal was on their way down their to do an inspection. Meanwhile we waited for over 45 minutes outside for the problem to clear. We tried to enter twice to close our tab in order to leave, but we were denied entrance both times. Finally we had to leave, so my credit card was left there.
I went and picked up the credit card today. First there were more drinks on the tab than we order. Second they put a 20% gratuity on the card for leaving it. If I had just left my credit card there without any attempt to close the tab, I would be willing to pay the gratuity, but charging me gratuity when I wasn't even allowed to get back in to close it? That's bull shit. I'm sure this story has played out with many of the 100 or so people that stood out on the sidewalk for over 45 minutes waiting to get back in.
I talked to the owner today, who openly admited the bar had really screwed up the show and the number of poeple they let in, plus the extreme understaffing of the bar, but he was barely willing to refund the gratuity and was not at all willing to refund 50% of the cover we had paid (since we only saw half the show I only thought that was fair).
Ultimately, I left with the charge for all the drinks and all the gratuity on my card, and no refund for any part of the cover. I have already called the my bank and initiated a charge back for all of the funds charged to my card. I don't put up with crap like this, and I hope you don't either. Take your business else where, for at The Pearl it is amatuer night.…
WE TURNED THE CAR AROUND...... My husband and I were on our way home after a night of dinner downtown, driving on Commerce , we heard this wonderful sound of live music coming from the corner bar. He turned car around and we are happy we did ! Great drinks (not watered down) HOORAY FOR MIKE!!! Music was loud and live (17 piece band). To top it off, they close with "Batman". Could not have been any better. Go, and enjoy.…
Times Have Changed. Okay.... so I gave this place a good review a year ago. Now the manager has become a d---e bag. Poor little club... I give it another year before the doors are closed. Too bad he's so rude to the local customers... we are the ones that will keep him in business.…
My Kind Of Place.
Great live music.
Friendly bartender and attentive waitress.
Smoking allowed, but has excellent ventilation so it doesn't seem smoky.
Older crowd. Finally a great place where I don't feel like a grandfather.
Reasonable prices.
I'll definately go back!!…
