worst bar in the df dub. Door guys think they are working the entrance of an important Hollywood club for starters. Music is average. At first thought it had potential in the beginning....I mean, if you like being associated with the washed up West Inn. Take that bar, give it a new owner, move say 3 miles down 75 N , add a new fragrance and Boom! On a positive note - Great place to go and look for some strange if you become extremely intoxicated prior to your arrival.
Nice and simple.
The place isn't very fancy but it gets the job done.
I forgot which night I went but it was a blast. Great music, good dance floor; my friends enjoyed ourselves. It won't get bumping till like midnight though. No cover. Ya I'm a guy so that means no cover for everyone, haha.
One Month Wonder. I've never seen a bar with such an identity crisis. What is it, please someone tell me! Is it a metro/gay sportsbar/nightclub/restaurant? As usual in our fickle city everyone goes to the new place to be seen, and in most cases, such as this one, we only arrive to be let down. Few bars in this city have really wowed me, and this one is definitely not one of them. I don't want to completely down grade them, its just not the upscale late night lounge or club that the ownership/management thinks or wants it to be. I read they were supposed to have the hottest staff in town and was totally let down in that department. The napoleonic muscle head with an attitude behind the bar didn't exactly strike me as one for that category. I will say there were some good looking cocktails that were nice, but thats everywhere in this city. The cocktails in this city are easily comparable to Vegas or L.A., which goes without saying. I am rather confused as to the voting on citysearch, though. Its not a bad bar, but definitely not indicative of such honors and reviews. I wouldn't give it such a strong score but who am I to say. I think I will stick with my current stock of bars and nightclubs.
can't understand why anyone would ever go there. Honestly, the interior looks like a broken down saloon. Horrible worn out wooden chairs, tables, walls, bar, floors. I felt like i was in a low budget Clint Eastwood film. Seriously! A little bit of money to modernize the interior sure would help this place. It was hard to find, and the staff were unattentive and inexperienced. Can't really see this place staying open for longer than a few months.
"If you have a pulse and don't $uck at life, this bar welcomes you," ...Envy Magazine.
I don't know what more one could ask for in a local hangout. You have flat screens and projectors to watch your college or NFL team, great food to keep your stomach happy, an awesome DJ to dance to at night, oh and did I mention the crowd, ya its the hottest around!
Friday's are the night to be there. Don't be scared!
not so much. How can anyone get a drink in this place? I waited forever and there was no one who care. The price were to high also.
love it!. anyone can have a good time at Walrus....it is great place to sit and talk if thats what you are in mood for, watch a game, grab a bite to eat and if you are in a dancing mood come by Thurday thoruhg Saturday night and DJ Chris Tracy will definately show you a good time....if you like to have a good time with cool people...GO TO WALRUS
Great Waittress, Horrible Place. The only thing positive about this place is our group had a very nice and attentive waittress. Otherwise, this place is a real downer. Forget trying to even get a drink from one of the bartenders. They are more interested in talking to each other or chatting with their friends. The drink prices are unbearable. I have been there twice. I went there the first time on a social club function, and the place pretty much screwed us over, even though we brought 100+ people. They promised these great drink specials, but once we showed up they completely forgot about the deal. No big deal, but if you are just opening up, you would think you would go out of your way to accomodate or please your new patrons. So, I thought it may have been a fluke, so I returned to give this place another shot. Same thing. Apparently, the owner of this bar has many friends, yet they think they own the place since they know him. So good luck trying to have a peaceful time. And if one of the buddies is by the bar, you might as well go to another bar, because you are not going to get a drink at this place. This place is a one second wonder and will be out of business in a couple of months. The prices are comparable to Ghostbar, and I would suggest you go there instead. Plus this bar is right next to the police depot in West End. (great location) Also, don't even try to get a cab because there are none around. And don't ask the valets, because they won't help. This review may seem a bit biased, but ask anyone who has been once and they will tell you the same thing. This bar can't decide whether it wants to be a Upper Crust (Ghostbar, Medici) bar or whether it wants to be a sports bar. I guess they figure they can do both, but I am here to tell you that it is not working. The owner should have just saved his money and thrown a house party ever weekend for his friends, because that is what this place is like.
Something for everyone!. Beautiful people? Check! Good drinks and reasonably priced? Check! Large patio? Check! Good DJ? (and possibly the best in Dallas)? Check! There really isn't much this bar doesn't have. For only being around a few short weeks, this bar has already proved it's going to be around for quite some time! I reccomend this place for the food, dancing, and even watching sports. They've got a DJ on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and even have 99 cent mimosas and 2 dollar bloody mary's on Saturdays and Sundays. This bar truly rocks!!
West End bar covers it all, with flat-screen TVs, kitchen for snacks, primo downtown address, and seven-day-a-week availability..
In Short
Next to the World Aquarium, this 5,500-square-foot venue sports a burnished wood interior, inherited from an Irish pub that was a previous tenant. Amber lamps inject a homey note. A deck wrapped around the exterior grants a fine view of the street. NFL and college sports are displayed on 10 flat screens and a projection screen above the fireplace. On weekends, downtown denizens meet West End wanderers on the dance floor as the DJ spins.
