Editorial Review for Chic From Barcelona – by Amanda Howe
In Short
Mellow yellow walls, cream-colored banquets and black trim are as refined in taste as the menu is basic. Spanish small plates such as patatas bravas and piquillo peppers are on offer but the star attraction is the rotisserie chicken cooked the way it's done in Barcelona. Tender, marinated and thinly sliced beef is homage to understatement. Simple flavors pair well with full-bodied reds from La Rioja or sparkling whites from Penedes.

Very quiet and nicely tucked away at Forest and Preston is Chic. The inside is gorgeous and the atmosphere was really laid-back. We had the party room and it was fantastic. The Sangria was wonderful, although a little expensive. All the appetizers were delicious! Gazpacho, YUMMY! The negative part, the chicken!! They served the chicken on a plate intentionally covered in oil (Olive Oil maybe) and the entire skin of the chicken was covered in herbs (over-kill). Half way through eating the chicken I became nauseated. I thought maybe it was just me, but my boyfriend is staying home sick today with a stomach ache that began immediately after eating. So go and have fun with friends, and try everything except the chicken. The service was wonderful and our group had a really good time.
Pros: Nice Ambience and a great place to meet friends! Good drinks and appetisers.
Cons: The Chicken. Yes I said it, flavor was too strong, intentionally covered in oil!!

I Like this place. It breaks my heart to get almost cold chicken and on a Saturday night have to search for the waitress who is busy drinking on the patio with her friends. The replacement chicken was a little warmer. I choose not ask for a second replacement. The dirty plates remained on the table until I finally moved them as we were drinking the bottle of wine we ordered. I had to again search for the waitress to get water. Tony the owner needs to spend a little more time watching his flock or at least have a way to email him on his website. I would have prefered to contact him directly. Four of us on a Saturday night 8 PM 2/23/08 should not have been that difficult. This is probably my tenth visit. The last two the chicken was lacking. When it is good it can realy be good. We usually bring a second couple as not a lot of folks have heard of this neighborhood restaurant. I am not sure I will come back. We tipped 20% but the service or lack of was worth considerably less. I MIGHT BE BACK AS WHEN IT IS GOOD IT IS WONDERFUL. TWO BAD TIMES IN A ROW CAN TURN ONE OFF ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU INVITE FRIENDS.
