The Scene – A single 'B' marked on the roof of the faux Haussmann inspired building and a lone valet stand are the only indications that a restaurant exists behind the arched wooden doors. Inside the muted decor is equally understated and elegant. The extensive wine list, like the cuisine, is a mix of classic French and bold American. Service is gracious and knowledgeable but never stuffy. – – The Food – Chef Gottlich creates his masterpieces using seasonally farm-fresh ingredients, like crispy melt-in-your pork belly balanced delicately on top of tiny baby carrots in…

Disappointing "Jewel" Bijoux

by DallasFoodie1

We ate at Bijoux this past weekend for a special occasion, and while the foie gras and the sauterne that accompanied it were delicious, the rest of the meal was disappointing. The sea scallops were so over salted that we could hardly finish them. Accompanied by a bacon vinaigrette, it was salt overkill. The cheese course was laughable. One slice of an ordinary cheese on a bread "tart" slice. The chef needs to try a cheese course in France, and appreciate what this course means. The drinks and wine were fine, the food was sub-par. The chef came out, but did not stop at our table. We were prepared to tell him what we thought, but unfortunately we didn't get the chance. We will never go back. York Street, you have my heart in this category.

  • Pros: Nice wine list, good service, nice ambience, easy to park
  • Cons: Place was empty even though it was hard to get a reservation, food was not great, and the cost was very high.

Rude Hostess

by jmn6

I would not recommend this restaurant. While the food and decor was fine, I found the hostess to be rude and unwelcoming. For the prices, I expect a pleasant atmosphere and courteous service. I will not be going back to this establishment.

  • Pros: food, decor
  • Cons: rude hostess

The Details on Bijoux

Know Before You Go:

This is not a restaurant for children. However, Chef Gottlich (who has a little one himself) and staff are happy to accommodate young diners. Should your munchkin feel restless, the staff can set up a table on the patio with all the trimmings to keep parents, children and other diners happy.
