Best Workout Around!
by MarthaReagan
A little background -- When I graduated college 5 years ago, I flirted with Bikram yoga for about 3 months; while I loved the workout: the price tag, culture of the studio and lack of variety ultimately didn't work for me.
After taking a 4 year break, I decided to try out Sunstone. Not only is the workout equal and/or superior to other forms of "hot yoga", it's less expensive, the instructors are all super friendly/helpful, AND (best of all) they offer a variety of classes.
In addition to the Fire series (virtually identical to Bikram), the Wood class focuses on core strength (like pilates) and the Earth series is more about general physical fitness (like push-ups).
If you hate the gym like I do, give this a try...it could be the best $10 you spend for years.
- Pros: Variety, Price, Service, # of Locations
- Cons: none
Are you all kidding?
by Renee1397
I decided to try Sunstone out because they are currently offering a special for new students. I've been doing yoga for about 6 years and had read glowing reviews about the place. The classes they offer are called called things like "Earth", "Metal", and "Wood". I was just looking for a good vinyasa class! Instead of calling poses by the Sanskrit name or its translation, Sunstone has come up with their own name for poses. Way to rip off of an ancient Hindu practice! If you are looking for a genuine yoga class, don't go to Sunstone! However, if you are into lots of mirrors and a gym-like experience at a premium price, Sunstone can offer you that.
- Pros: Clean bathroom?
- Cons: I don't even know where to start.
Great yoga studio with a warm and accepting environment
by Rocky1969
This yoga studio is the place to go for a hard-core work out. The people, both teachers and students, are friendly and not at all intimidating. It seems like everyone there is trying to improve his or her own personal practice so nobody is looking around, comparing themselves to anybody else.
As a beginner, I was a little hesitant to walk in the door, thinking people would know I had never done this before. I felt totally comfortable at this studio the very first time I walked in. As I have continued my practice, I have been blown away by the improvements in my core strength, flexibility, and balance. I highly recommend Sunstone Yoga North Dallas as a warm and accepting environment in which to practice yoga.
