In Short – The bar's name describes a "cozy and dark" gathering place in Dutch and the narrow room and black ceiling tiles punctuated with blue and green pinpoint lights give this unpretentious watering hole a snug feel. Large, rectangular light panels change colors and an oversized flat-screen TV glows in a corner near the bar. Sandwiches include the New Yorker, corned beef with melted cheddar, and the Texan, roast beef with melted Swiss.

Gezellig, place is so hot sould be called Ge-sizzle

by hawkez at Citysearch

So i went to Gezellig this past Thursday night. And this spot was pop'n. First of all the play list that they're jam'n was phenomenal, you walk in the joint and your instantly bobbing your head and thrusting your pelvis. The bartender informed me that the owner was the one who picks the music. (so to the owner "man you got taste!") the decor of the place rocked as well. The perfect combination of darkness with red and green soft lights, it made a dude like me look like Capt'n studly. Speaking of looking good the bartender (Jennifer) was so dam foxy i just wanted to give her my wallet and say "take it just don't stop talking to me please"

sufficed to say she was stunningly beautiful. The beer selection was off the hook everything from Sierra Nevada pale ale to Modello especial and the drinks were priced just right, along with quick serves and a bartender with skills and personality that would best Sam Malone of Cheers. The classic rock cover band that played had all forty fine a$$ girls in the place screaming in classic rock pleasure and the ten guys in the place wishing they were Jesse's Girl. Overall with great priced, good beer, a bartender and music that would get your grandmas mama to shake her a$$. Gezellig is the new hot spot of greenville. So go check it out and grab a pale ale. Tell you this, this guy will definitely be back sh$*t ill probably go tonight. Thanks for the memories EL Valdez Defense Attorney

This Place is TERRIBLE!!!

by kornrulz at Citysearch

I have been here several times and everytime it is the same junk. The service is terrible, the place overcharges for everything, the drink specials they do have are ridiculous. Blue Moon for $3 is not a special, it is regular price everywhere else. The bands they do have on the weekends make me wish I was deaf. The place looks like some nighttime jazz lounge and they have reggae, and country music in there. Seriously, what are they thinking??? DO NOT GO HERE, RUN AWAY VERY, VERY FAST!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
  • Cons: Overpriced, Music is BAD, Service is slow just like the staff

On the way OUT!!!!!!!

by blank2 at Citysearch

Gezellig is a cozy place, don't get me wrong.

However, the prices are ridiculous, it takes forever to tab out (and when you do they either overcharge you, mix up your tab, mischarge you, etc...) The food is good, but for the price, the sandwiches are not as big as they should be. The staff is fairly knowledgeable about the beers, mixed drinks, and sandwiches; but they seem to have an attitude if you are not a friend of theirs. This bar is VERY kitschy, more of a personal hangout for the owners and their friends. If you are not a friend of the owners or the staff already I STRONGLY recommend going elsewhere. There are MANY, MANY better places to spend your hard earned money than Gezellig.

Environment (8 out of 10)

Staff (3 out of 10)

Food (5 out of 10)

Owners (2 out of 10).

If you have never been to Gezellig my advice is to not start now.

Plus, you won't miss anything, that place is on Life Support and the plug NEEDS to be pulled!!!
