After my eyes were numb from the drops given by the technician, Dr. Boothe sat down behind my and began ramming things into my eye without a word. I had no idea how many contraptions were used on me, but I imagined at least 3 different objects being painfully shoved onto each eye. Each one made me wince very obviously during the procedure, enough for Dr. Boothe to instruct an assistant to hold my chin up with force, but not enough for him to speak directly to me to ask how I was doing or tell me what he was doing to cause all the pain. Therefore each time I thought the suctioning or shoving was over finally, another painful object would be jammed into some area around my eye. I can’t tell you even now what was happening during the surgery, only that I was being held down wide awake to just sit there and feel every painful moment of the first part of surgery. After that first part ended, I was sat down in the surgery area to recover I suppose to rehash the awful experience. I didn’t realize it was only half the process due to the fact that, again, I was uninformed during the entire surgery. (I do remember Dr. Boothe talking to an assistant about some sport while I was wincing in pain. He did not speak directly to me at all, except for the instruction to keep my chin up.) The second part of surgery, the correction, was a surprise to me since I thought that all the pain I had just gone through was all I had to endure that day. Again, Dr. Boothe came over after the numbing drops were applied and wordlessly began operating on me. I remember the slight stabbing sensation in my left eye that cause me to literally cry out in pain, which Dr. Boothe took as a cue to call over the assistant who applied the numbing drops and berate him while I sat there on the operating chair. Amazingly, Dr. Boothe still had yet to ask me, the patient, how I was doing. The only thing I could’ve done to make my painful state more obvious would have been to scream out the pain I was feeling, which would have scared the other 5 or 6 patients being operated on simultaneously. As a patient who has not seen thousands of lasik surgeries performed, the most helpful thing a doctor can do while performing surgery on a wide awake, non-sedated patient is to ASK how the patient is doing DURING surgery and describe each step as he is performing it to help the patient anticipate the steps. Each new painful step was an unwelcome surprise to me that caused me to dread every second of the surgery. Coming fresh out of the surgery, I would much rather wear contacts the rest of my life than ever subject myself to another session with Dr. Boothe. It was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever subject myself to, and I’m certain it was because actual surgery performed by the hands of Dr. Boothe. I will make certain that any potential patients I ever meet will choose to go to smaller, more personable offices with doctors that care enough about the patient to at least ask once during the procedure if the patient is in excruciating pain.

i had my surgery in 2001. some days i find it hard to go on living. i used to be successful and happy. now i struggle to make it through everyday. eyesight is a mental function as much as anything. do not let this poor excuse for a human being touch your eyes. there is something evil about him. unless you want to be unbalanced visually for the rest of your life do not do this. vision changes with mood, sugar levels, adrenaline levels, age. this will be the biggest mistake of your life. by the way i believe this boy boothe knows what he is doing to you!

Recently had laser vision correction and was extremely disappointed in the service from his staff.Paying $3,500 of your hard earned money you expect to be treated decent. I had no idea what to expect nobody told me before hand what the procedure would entail and when I asked I was ignored -I asked what the drops were for and the technician ignored me and kept putting drops in. The day of my procedure I had a panic attack because nobody was telling me what they were doing. I walked out! It took a nurse and several staff to get me to go back,I only did this with a friend at my side talking to me during the entire process (since none of the staff spoke to me except to verify who I was). If they would just communicate better with the patients you would feel more comfortable. All 7 patients sitting in the recovery room with me agreed that it would have been nice to know what was going on and have someone talk you. You do waste a lot of time it seems they schedule everyone at the same time even for follow-up appointments. Don't allow yourself to be treated like a car on an assembly line.
