Okay food, but terrible service. The ranking went to this restaurant's head. We had a waiter who ignored our table in favor of horsing around with other waiters, and we had the audacity to complain, came back to our table asked if we had a problem with his service in a very angry manner. The manager didn't seem to care. I've never had a waiter treat customers so disrespectfully. Plus, we had a party of 15 people, and they wouldn't let us bring our own cake without paying a ridiculous "cake fee" because, as they explained, they would have to bring out silverwear. I will never go back. It's sad, because the restaurant is very pretty inside.
Great everytime. Love the chicken fried beef hanger steak and mashed potatoes....everything on the menu is very well-made. There is a little bit of a wait every time you go on the weekend. Its worth it though.
Not Good.
Let me see............
PorkChop sucked
No to go bag
Too many people in shorts with tucked in shirts
Oh did I mention the 3 hr wait.......
Don't go on a Friday night.
We were a bit disappointed in Tillman's after the great reviews we had heard and read. We were a party of six and they attempted to sit us at a four top table, crowded for adults. We had reservations for six and confirmed that there would be six of us, so we protested and asked for another table. With much discussion and intervention from the owner, we were finally seated 30 minutes after the reservation time.
We had the trio of fries and fried pickles as starters. The fries were over done, just warm, not hot, but seasoned nicely. The fried pickles were bread and butter pickles and sweet - didn't like the batter or sauce with them.
The steaks were large and nicely cooked, as was the chicken fried steak item. However, the salmon was overcooked and somewhat dry, the rice bland. The burger was good, but served with mac and cheese which had little taste. The ribs were quite spicy.
The table side s'mores were a disappointment. The marshmallows wouldn't melt and the chocolate was waxy. The presentation of all meals and dessert was very nice.
The waiter was good, but busy and we were frequently out of tea. The wine was very good as were the b-orange margaritas.
I don't think I would make the hour drive again. There are better places in Dallas.
Every chance we get. When in Dallas for a Saturday we always eat lunch at Tillman's. Creatively cooked, excelent tasting food is always on the menu, with an attentive wait staff doing the servng. Highly recommended.
Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful.
My husband and I often go to Tillmans as we live close by. From day one we have been treated so well and we have had wonderful service. Sarah the owner is a lovely lady as are all the Staff. You must try the Birthday cake as a desert... it's big enough for two and chocolate decadence. Do be warned it can get very busy in the evenings. But what does that tell you?....... It's gotta be Wonderful.
Oh I almost forgot, if you sit at the Bar, you can watch old movies that are projected on the wall. Now how cool is that!
Sarah makes this an OakCliff favorite....
Besides having some of the best food in Bishop Arts, Not to mention Oakcliff. Tillmans is the best place in the metro-plex for a quick bite, a fun date or a romantic evening between the two of you...
I've been there for every occasion and Never, NEVER have I been Dissapointed.
Sarah always makes you feel like your the most important customer in the place...She has the warmest and friendliest style about her that always welcomes diners like old friends.
She has done a massive interior makeover and it IS fabulous !!!
The food, the drinks, the people ...You won't be dissapointed.
Stop in and tell Sarah " Hello"...
most pitiful excuse for dining ever. What a nightmare. We had a reservation at 8pm and it was moved to 8:30, so I thought, ok, no big deal, just walk around for a bit and wait. We didn't get seated until 9pm. Our party of about 20 was seated in the private room , there were 4 tables total (which, if you look on the website says they are set to handle these numbers). Everything was ridiculously slow, drink orders, appetizers, and especially the main course. We sat at the table in the back and after waiting hours to get our food and seeing (eventually) the rest of our party getting and finishing thier main course and preparing to leave, we still hadn't gotten our food. We were finally served at 11pm, a TWO HOUR WAIT! Our entire party was left to wait on the one table who hadn't been served yet. No apologizes were made by the staff, manager, or owner. Our concerns (we politely inquired with the manager once and then the owner) were answered by rudeness and excuses. We also overheard complaints about our party by the owner herself about making separate checks which was suggested by the waiter. NOTHING was done to remedy the situation. Getting the check was a nightmare, another 45 minutes of waiting and after all that, we were still the last table to recieve the bill and we received the bill in full plus several extra drinks that we never had (some of us had non-alchoholic drinks as well, so we were very clear on everything, just in case you are wondering). Our full drinks were yanked from us without asking us if we were finished and way before the check was given. All of this and the food was mediocre at best and some of it cold. Price to quality of food/service ratio was painfully out of balance. Venison frito pie tasted like wolf brand chili. The waiter patronized me and gave several pats on the back with false promises that our food or check was on its way. Some of this could have been forgiven had there been reparations made but there was not even the slightest attempt at this. I WILL NOT BE BACK!!
HANDS DOWN WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. What a disaster! Our 8pm reservation was pushed back to 8:30 (then it was another 20 minutes to get seated). Our party of about 20 was seated in the private room, there were 4 tables total. Everything was ridiculously slow, drink orders, appetizers, and especially the main course. We happened to be seated at a table that was neglected more than the others who were served and completely finished eating 30 minutes before our food arrived. Our entire party was left to wait on the one table who hadn't been served yet. The main course for us was served at 11pm, a TWO HOUR wait! No apologizes were made by the staff, manager, or owner. Our concerns were answered by rudeness and excuses. We also overheard complaints about our party by the owner herself about making 4 separate checks which was suggested by the waiter. NOTHING was done to remedy the situation, we received the bill in full plus several extra drinks that we never had. Also getting the check was a nightmare, another 45 minutes of waiting. Not to mention our full drinks were yanked from us by an over anxious bus boy, this was done without asking us if we were finished and way before the check was given. Other atrocities that are worth mentioning are: lukewarm and even cold food, food price to quality ratio was out of balance, the venison frito pie was hauntingly reminiscent of wolf brand chili, the waiter patronized us and gave several pats on the back with false promises that our food or check was on its way, unprofessional service overall - dessert was never offered, plates were passed around to their rightful owners, a severe lack of preparation for a large party who had reserved in advance. Why have a private room if you can't staff it or get food prepared in a reasonable amount of time!? It was ultimately a painful dining experience, after so much waiting, horrible service, and mediocre food NOTHING was done to make reparations! We will never go back to Tillmans Roadhouse.
Trendy. Trendy new place, impressive display of many crystal chandeliers. Very expensive for the neighborhood.
