What People Are Saying About Flavor Asian Fusion & Dessert Bar

In Short – Next door to American fast food icons is a modest Asian outpost of tranquility comprised of bamboo floors, persimmon walls and crimson leather booths. Start out with a sampler plate that includes Balinese sate, tender meat skewers dipped in peanut sauce. The basil stir fry with green beans, onion and red bell pepper can be prepared Thai style with plenty of spice. Cinnamon-sugar coated banana spring rolls with ice cream and berries are a must.

Best Fried Rice In Town!
by salim5599 at Citysearch
I'd Thai Fried Rice for the first time I'd eaten at Flavor, and it's so delicious. It's not greasy at all!
I'd tried "Fried Rice" in so many Thai and Chinese restaurants and most of them didn't do a good job at all.
If you love "fried rice"--- like I do!, you've got to try this place out! There are different kinds of fried rice for everyone. My buddy tried "Spicy Basil Fried Rice", and he loved it--- it's just a perfect heat for him-- and he loves his food "super spicy". I'll go back to try "Crab Fried Rice" soon!
- Pros: BYOB, Great Food!
- Cons: None
WOW! My husband and I are hooked!!!!!!!

I had the "Drunken Noodle". It is a Flat noodle dish like Pad thai ot thai basil at other locations except this was a little different from any other thai dish I had had, The cut up VERY small pieces of onion, green bean, and carrots in the Thai dish with other ingreadience that gives the thai dish amazing texture and flavor! It literally explodes in your mouth with a mix of sweet, hot and richness! My Husband had the special from the sushi bar --"Sashimi Roll", which is variety of fishes and jalapeno and wrapped with thinly peeled carrot! If you are on a NO CARB diet this is the BOMB of a dish! There is no rice in this sushi roll or seaweed! This sushi roll is served with the best peanut sauce I have ever tasted and topped with wasabi cream sauce as well. For desserts, I had "coconut mango cheesecake" WOW! and he had "5-spice chocolate mousse" beyond chocolate AND BEYOND CHEESECAKE. It was a true culinary delight! So if you are like us where we both like Thai and Sushi and want them BOTH on the same day, this is it! All of their award winning desserts are house-made, even the raspberry and mango puree, and caramel or chocolate sauces! Try it all now! Don?t forget to ask about the Waffle cookies! Dallas Morning News rated them as the best dessert in Dallas!
- Pros: The best sushi AND Thai chef in the Metroplex!
- Cons: Only one location in an up and coming neighbprhood, but worth the drive.
BEST FOOD IN DALLAS

I've been to Flavor since it's just open in the beginning of last year. I went there and celebrate my valentine's night in 2007. The food was great!--- even though it's just opened up, and not too crowded. This year, I went there again because my husband and I always love the "Special Menu" for the "Special Event" that Chef Oudi has created. It's very good valued for only $75 per COUPLE, yes I mean a couple, for these gourmet meals--- it's worth it! The foie gras's so creamy and melt in the mouth. I had chosen poached Maine lobster with Malaccan crab cake for my entree and my husband had grilled rib-eye steak with Malaccan crab cake. Both of them were so delicious! and cook to perfection! Dessert was the almond white chocolate truffle---sooo....... yummy! The decor for valentine's was so romantic too.
Everything I had there at Flavor was so wonderful. I am totally agree with D Magazine that Flavor is The Best Neighborhood Restaurant in Lake Highlands (Feb. '08 issue). I told all of my friends and everybody I know about this restaurant and all of them LOVE IT! The servers are very nice and friendly, make me feel so special when I went there. They remember my usual order and even my name! Great food, great service------glad that you're here in Lake Highlands
- Pros: Awesome Food, Very Friedly Service, Nice Ambience, Bright Parking Lot
- Cons: N/A
Great food in an unlikely place

The first time we went to Flavor, my wife and I almost didn't go in. It's located in a strip shopping center that has seen better days. We decided to give it a try, and we were pleasantly surprised with what we found.
The first time we both had Thai food and a couple of pieces of the Sunday $1 sushi. The pad thai was really flavorful and we were so impressed with the sushi we went back a week later to make a meal of it. We tried two different desserts and they were both very tasty.
My only complaint about Flavor is that both times we went, the service was really, really slow. Neither time was particularly busy, but we still didn't see much of our waiter/waitress. They would take our drink orders and bring back the drinks, then leave without taking our food order, and we didn't see them again for several minutes. I know sushi takes some time, but a lot of time was wasted just sitting without our order being turned in. Next time we'll be more assertive.
Overall, this is a much more upscale restaurant than you'd expect in a somewhat run-down shopping center. A really neat atmosphere and great food with very reasonable prices.
- Pros: Great food, good variety of choices, reasonable prices
- Cons: Slow service
