You won't regret staying at the Palomar

Last time I saw this hotel, I was a student at SMU and it was a run down dump. But wow, what a difference a few years make. My wife and I gave it a try for our 2nd anniversary and I was not disappointed. You walk in and are greeted by a very friendly staff immediately, and the receptionist promptly upgraded us to the luxury suite upon checkin. Downside though, there is no parking so you have to use valet (I think $18 a night when I stayed there). The room was immaculate with a modern decor, yet very spaceous with an excellent use of natural light from the windows. However when we closed the curtains, it was hard to tell if it was daytime or nightime, so you can create the environment you want. The restaurant was also well quaffed with great food. The pool and the hot tub was the finest I've seen at a 4 star establishment, hands down. It was on the roof of the second floor in open air, creating just the perfect lounging environment, very romantic setting. An added cherry was the full spa next to the hotel. I was able to schedule an in-room prenatal massage for my wife. And lady who came to serve us, Nusia, was awesome and very personable. The only downside we had was our view from the room. We could really only see the top of the other buildings and had an obstructed view, possibly that was due to our specific room's placement. All things considered, though, the Palomar was the best 4 star hotel going in the downtown or uptown Dallas area. Highly recommend.

great trendy hotel with top-notch service

many times trendy hotels do not have the best of service, but this hotel is first rate in every sense. The hotel is beautiful, the food is amazing and you couldn't ask for a better hotel staff. The food is trendy but comforting. It is in a great location if you aren't looking to stay downtown. The valets often remember your name. They do wine tastings and on a cold winter's evening, the fire place in the lobby is perfect. My favorite hotel in Dallas and I will be coming back many times more!

Best hotel staff around

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Palomar for a long weekend getaway. I had heard of Palomar before, so we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, the staff got our bags, opened the towncar door for us and greeted us by name. A nice way to start things off with me! At check-in, the staff told us that they would be upgrading us to a suite for no additional cost "just because". The lobby is designed/decorated with great taste and smells very fresh. The room was extremely clean and, again, decorated exquisitely. The bed was very comfortable and plasma tv is always a plus. The fitness center had great equipment. We spent one entire day out by the pool and had an awesome time! We secured one of the cabanas, baked in the sun, drank margaritas, and swam in the infinity pool. When we wanted to get lunch down the street one day, one of the valet staff offered to drive us there in the hotel's Mercedes R-Class. I can easily say that the entire hotel staff rivaled that of almost any place I've been. It's a very trendy place with a great atmosphere. Breakfast in the restaurant was to die for! I would recommend the Palomar to anyone wanting a trendy, classy, unique place to stay while in Dallas. It'll be hard for me to stay anywhere else in the city when I'm there.
