Great for group party – Had my anual get together with my old Corps buddies @ Nove... I don't believe there to be a better place to gather and eat! The food was awesome! The service was awesome! Went to Ghostbar after and were escorted across the street to the bar by a manager from the restaurant... AWESOME!!!!!
Best chicken parm EVER!! – I am a huge fan of restaurant week (8/11 - 8/16) so I took full advantage with both N9NE Locations (Nove & N9NE Steakhouse). I am not going to lie when my party arrived it was a little busy but busy is good it means that they have great food and people keep coming. It was a great crowd for a Wednesday. Nove is absolutely stunning with the famous art pieces scrolling on the large plasmas all over the restaurant to the marble tiled walls and columns to the magnificant color changing wine room and chandeliers and candles.....even the large lady topiaries outside. it is by far the most romantic and beautiful display of an Italian restaurant and the food is amazing. I could just sit there absorbing the atmosphere and not even eat, it's that amazing. I love chicken parmigian and this is the best I have ever had and I get it everytime I go there, which isn't a lot.....only on special occasions, but I love it and highly reccommend it. Also the calamari, it's so good that you don't even need the marinara to dip it in and it has peppers mixed in so it has a hint of heat. I do maybe understand a little about the staff being harder to understand, a few of them do have heavy accents but I had no problems. They are all great. Miguel was my server and he could not be nicer or more prepared, he is everything you would want in a server. We had an all around great experience and both locations.....during restaurant week and would highly reccommend both to anyone. I will be back!!
Service...what service? – Excited about my first experience with NOVE, I made a reservation for 6 to celebrate a friend's birthday in the Victory Park N9NE sibling restaurant. We arrived only to discover a cool, modern atmosphere with the expected feel of a Dallas mid-upscale eatery. The hostess was very nice and she escorted us to the lounge area to wait for our table while sipping cocktails. That's where the good ended, I'm afraid. We waited one hour to be seated, which was okay, though, slightly intolerable with a reservation. Upon reaching the table, one place setting was removed and the 6th chair was missing. We waited 15 minutes for a chair after asking 3 separate staff members. Upon sitting down, we waited 15 minutes to get water, at which time the waiter scoffed at us for simply requesting tap water to accompany our drinks. They apparently upsell their bottled/sparkling water products to each patron, which I find annoying. We hardly saw the same staff person twice, which is why we were missing soup spoons, menus, and other various items for extended periods of time. The waiter was short-spoken, rude, and assumptive about our choices. The manager came over a few times only to further patronize us by asking closed-ended questions with very little care. The communication with the staff is TERRIBLE and the trouble we went through just to eat was unexcusable. The food is great, if you get what you ordered. Two of my party ordered steaks and got them cooked incorrectly. We all got the wrong salads, soups, etc. Utter chaos. I will never return to this establishment and I have made it clear to friends that it is not a place to dine if you expect any particular level of service. I never complain about things such as these, but this was ridiculous. Dine at your own risk. NOVE - do us a favor and put some emphasis on your guests. It may actually encourage someone to return.
Some good food, some bad experiences, inconsistent dish sizes, good wine knowledge, overpriced – My friend being a French wine connoisseur and the restaurant only offering Italian wines, he asked the waiter for advice based on his preferred French wine. The waiter flipped aimlessly through the wine list for a minute, then gave up and got another waiter who seemed much more knowledgeable and quickly recommended a couple of choices. My friend was happy with the recommendation (sorry, don't know which one, only that it was a "Pinot Nero" from the early 90's), said the smell was great but that it tasted a 'young' or a bit watery...
We started with carpaccio and sausage pizza. The carpaccio was nice, though the taste of the meat was sadly covered by vinegar -- never had vinegar on carpaccio before, weird. Pizza was very nice too, thin crust, tasty sausage, fresh sauce, a bit salty for my friend by fine for me; my only complaint would be that it's too big for an appetizer!
The Nove Spaghetti seemed nice on the menu, but sadly was a big let-down for me: For $36 I got one bite of lobster, a couple of shrimps, some fish (very nice!) and a sauce overloaded with chili, that quickly numbed my taste and prevented me from eating more than a quarter of my meal... Too bad, since the pasta was perfectly cooked.
My friend got the swordfish, he said he didn't like it, not much taste... Also though at a higher price his portion was ridiculously small compared to mine.
The dessert menu was attractive, but we didn't stay any longer, so I can't comment on it...
did not meet expectations – About a month ago, March, my friend and I decided to start off her birthday celebration at Nove. The four of us had reservations for dinner and were seated promptly. So far, so good, sadly enough that's where the hospitality of the restaurant ended. Our waiter was a condescending gentleman that could hardly speak. I did not understand half of the things he was saying. The funny thing was, I SPEAK Spanish and I let him know, yet he continued speaking in that horrible chopped manner. He spent a good 10 minutes blabbering away only to rudely bring our food. The chicken marsala was nothing out of the ordinary, about as good as Olive Garden I'm afraid. I noticed my friend only received a 16 oz steak.. nothing more. Nothing. Except for the $16 Fiji water.
The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, with the wine cellar in display and artwork discreetly displayed on plasma TVs. N9NE Steakhouse next door is way better on service and food quality. I can't believe the same company owns both restaurants, a real stark difference indeed.
Just great Italian food! – Had a craving for Italian food and Nove did us right. We ordered the sausage with peppers pizza - a great starter. Also loved the crab cake. Had to have the Caprese salad which was delicious - tomatoes were perfect. Pasta was al dente and the bolognese hearty and delicious. Loved the restaurant. Great looking dining room. Very fair prices. Just great Italian food. We will definitely be back.
Closed on Sundays – Unfortunately, we tried to make reservations for Sunday night and were informed they are closed on Sundays even though the CitySearch guide says differently.
great vibe – I appreciate the true "hip" feeling you get when entering Nove. The crowd was beautiful, the food was great and the staff very attentive and fun. 5 stars from me!
what a suprise – Stoped in after the Mav's game on Friday night to have a drink in the lounge. What a suprise, I cant beleive I have been walking by all season and have not noticed this place. Ashley our waitress was great, she reccomened the tequila granita we were glad we followed her advice this is the best version of a frozen margaritta in the city. She told us we had to try the crudo, she said it was the italian version of sashimi, it was even better. The freshest fish I have had in Dallas, and I love going out for sushi. This is my new post Mavs hangout. Great service, great drinks, great food and a fun enviorment. No more standing in the crowded Jack Daniels Club. Cant wait to have a whole meal.
