8 Year Old turned away for Id!. Today during our daughters Eight Year Old Birthday party another parents was excited to tell us of the Leap Day offer at Sprinkles, get a Dozen Cupcakes if today is your birthday. Our daughter loves Sprinkles, or did, until we went to the store. The staff behind the counter was helpful and began to help my wife, when the manager arrived and asked for proof that today was our Eight Year Old daughter’s birthday, she of course does not carry photo ID and my wife just did not happen to have her birth certificate in her pocket to prove her birthday, which the manager told her would be require to claim the offering. They left calling me, a little upset and not understanding what they were supposed to have done. Well in the digital age I happened to have my iPad and access to online storage where I have all of our important documents scanned. We returned to the store asking for the offer once again with iPad in tow and the scanned copy of daughter’s birth certificate displayed on the screen, the staff behind the counter asking no questions except “what she would like”? I can only guess that they had faced an onslaught of young children attempting a cupcake caper by acting as if it today was their birthday, and the manager had to step up the regulations above the TSA and Homeland Security travel requirements, as she was now expecting every 4, 8 and 12 year old to carry photo id. I am sure there are people that take advantage of generous offers likes this, it is something special to recognize a unique birthday and the Sprinkles website does say photo id, but approaching customers and more specifically children as if they are liars and need to prove today is their birthday seems a little extreme.
Best cupcake I ever ate!. I stopped by Sprinkles because my daughter insisted they were awesome even though the price seemed high for a cupcake. But I have to agree with my daughter, these cupcakes are worth every penny!
I don't get it.
So I've heard all the buzz and thought I would give it a try.
I bought 5 (individual) cupcakes for $17.50. What a let down.
GOOD: The packaging was beautiful, I just wish the taste would have matched the nice packaging, BAD: The cup cakes were semi-dry and the frosting was semi-hard.
I bought these to surprise my wife who absolutely LOVES CUPCAKES and even she was disappointed.
Thecupcakes are good but extremely pricey. The cupcakes are good, if you get them on a good day. I have purchased from here a couple of times now and on some days it is mouth watering delicious and on other days it's dry and lackluster. I guess the problem is that at $3.25 a cupcake you have to take the chance that the day you buy the cupcake the bakers were in a good mood and did a good job. A little more consistency would be helpful.
they are really good.. I ordered mine online and picked them up on a Saturday. The people behind the counter were friendly courteous and quick. The cupcakes were adorable and delicious. Very good frostings and the cakes were moist. I dont see how they are getting bad reviews. I loved it!
Amazing cupcakes!. I love sprinkles cupcakes! They are moist and have a lot of flavor. I tried the black and white. The only con would be the price but I really don't mind paying the $3.25 because they are so good!
SUPER yummy cupcakes - the service is a little iffy though..
I had heard alot of hype about Sprinkles, but the reviews here had me worried that it might not live up to the expectations -- but my sweet tooth prevailed, and I decided to try it anyways. :P
I have to say, I'm a little confused about complaints about the taste.. they were DELICIOUS.. moist and yummy, with perfect creamy icing - not sickeningly sweet, and not bland either, and ive tasted alot of cupcakes! I ended up getting 6, my sister grabbed 3. The red velvet and cinnamon were to die for, and my sister loved her carrot cupcakes. Even my boyfriend, who rarely eats sweets of any kind happily devoured 3 milk chocolate cupcakes in one sitting. :P I'm actually planning a trip back tommorrow to try out the pb chip cupcake.. as a diehard peanut butter fan, i must. They are a little pricey, but the quality and taste is worth it. They are far above and beyond your average sickeningly sweet grocery store cupcake.
My only real complaint is the service.. the girls behind the counter seemed to have a real attitude.. no smiles, no friendliness, nothing. The girl who took my order seemed to be irritated I was even there and gave off the air that I was wasting her time with my extremely difficult and complex order of 6 cupcakes in 3 flavors, and shooed me away quickly as if i was in her way once she had the order, pretty much barking at me to go sit down and that she'd have it ready "soon". She just overall seemed extremely snooty and rude. Not sure if it was this girl in particular or the whole staff, but I found it rather offputting.
wonderful, delicious, and welcoming!.
I was a first time customer and was excited to try cupcakes from this place! I went in and the girls behind the counter were friendly and helpful when I asked about the flavors and the store. Everything was very clean and inviting. It smelled wonderful. I ordered 6 cupcakes and very pleasantly surprised because I had read some reviews on here about it and some made it sound just terrible. But it wasn't bad at all. The cupcakes were delicious, the chocolate really had a strong sense of cocoa in it, instead of the normal ones you get that have all that artificial flavoring in it. Red velvet was just amazing and the strawberry was incredible! They have a special right now of Key Lime and it was a great taste of key lime and very fresh tasting. I think that you can taste the difference in the cupcakes from Sprinkles and those from other bakeries that keep their cupcakes in the fridge over night.
After reading some of the reviews again I think that some people are very bitter towards Sprinkles and those people need to calm down. It was a great experience and great cupcakes. On a side note, I asked about the owners after having read the last review and they are from oklahoma - but moved to beverly hills and had nothing to do with cupcakes until one day the wife said she wanted to open up a cupcake shop. They seem like wonderful people from what the girl at the register told me and I think that this place should be tried by all!
Sprinkles cupcakes are as bad as everyone says.
First, let me say I can't believe I waited in line with all the Stepford Wives of Dallas just to eat a dry and completely uninteresting cupcake. The chocolate was ridiculously dry and if I didn't have to deal with an unfriendly airhead girl at the cash register, I would have asked for my money back. And what's the deal with those disgusting circles on the top of the cupcake? The first clue that I shouldn't have put them in my mouth was when I saw a trail of them outside of their store. I'm not even sure if this stuff was food or not. I'm sure I have their disgusting fondants sitting in my stomach for the next three years slowly being broken down over time by my body. I just can't believe people are waiting in line for this garbage -- and it just goes to show you how unsophisticated the pubic truly is that they can read about this junk in a tabloid and then get in line to pay money for it.
I've been reading a lot of blogs today about Sprinkles and it seems the bloom is long gone from this rose. And now I've heard rumors and stories about how awful the owners are, who I heard are from Oklahoma and not Beverly Hills! What's up with that? That says a lot about these people that they have to pretend they're upscale high-class people from Beverly Hills and they're nothing but a couple of hicks trying to be cool. It's actually pretty funny. And now I just added money to their pocket which isn't so funny. Never again. Too many good bakeries in Dallas to fall for this dog and pony show. There's a reason Oprah dropped them from her "favorite things" list and there's a reason their cupcake mix isn't selling at Williams-Sonoma. The reason is because Sprinkles cupcakes simply aren't good.
Dry, Dry, Dry.
So I decided to finally try a Sprinkles Cupcake since I was in the shopping center. It wasn't busy at all. But after I tasted a cupcake, I understood why...the cupcake was so dry! I couldn't believe it. I told my coworkers about my visit and they hadn't even heard of Sprinkles. Is Sprinkles having 'internal' issues?? Maybe they are growing too fast, I don't know, but this Dallas store has been here for a while.
Anyway, I'm so disappointed that I was, well, disappointed! Oh well.
