Editorial Review for Sangria Tapas Y Bar – by Nathan Stull
The Scene
Another creation by Alberto Lombardi, this location boasts the same level of authenticity and quality diners have come to expect. The front patio offers limited seating for people-watching on Cole Avenue, and the dark interior, with deep wood beams, rustic light fixtures and walls decorated in a Spanish-style look fills quickly. Service is attentive and courteous.
The Food
The Spanish tapas do not disappoint. Appetizers include tomato bread with the option to add cured ham and cheese. Small plate choices are plentiful and varied, including crispy chicken empanadas, shrimp and crab croquettes, ham and chicken croquettes and meatballs. Main entrees are also available for those looking for larger portions. For dessert, the apple tart with a scoop of dulce de leche ice cream is a good finisher. Sangria comes in red, white or cava, mixed with chopped fruit.

Patio is good spot to sit, but other than that it is an awful place. Waitress was very rude and was "put out" to serve us. Food was very bland and over priced. All beef tapas were horrible...NO TASTE. Most menu items are not worth the price. Sangria was uninspired to be named as such. It just tasted like cheap red wine with an orange in it. I have enjoyed much better tapas throughout the Metroplex. Do NOT waste your time or your $$$.
Pros: Patio area.
Cons: FOOD...Service....Sangria

This place is one of those spots in Dallas that is really always an enjoyable time for me. Yes, it's very crowded at peak times. Fortunately, I've never gone during peak times. I've really only gone off-peak, which has ensured a certain level of attention and service. What has blown me away, are some of the dishes: I love the meatballs, the pan con tomate (an absolute STAPLE in Spain), the chorizitos; to me, these things are all fabulous. Chinese long-beans are excellent as well. Go early to get a spot on the patio. It's worth it! The reason I really like this place is that it's somewhat a slice of Spain in Knox-Henderson. It's loud, there's great tapas, drinking, food, people laughing, you can eat outside in the night air and it tends to be a beautiful crowd (which approximates the beautiful people of Spain).
Pros: The perfect first date spot!
Cons: fills up fast, go early
