Editorial Review for Cliff Cafe Restaurant – by Sabra Girard

The Scene
Serene blue floors, cushy booths and muted yellow walls lit by antique lanterns and stained glass fixtures provide a diner vibe. An artsy wait staff in jeans and black long-sleeved oxfords cater to an unconventional and conversational crowd. An inlet with a freestanding bar offers a separate nightlife mood and a comfortable place for individuals to eat solo anytime.

The Food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner offer contemporary comfort food for traditional or exploratory taste buds. The breakfast menu spotlights the Belmont breakfast with eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, potatoes and biscuits. Lunch features half pound sirloin burgers and salads. Dinner presents a smooth glass of Qupe Syrah and the popular spicy mango glazed pork shanks. There's a rotating fresh fish selection, but chicken fried steak and the mac and cheese plate are home cookin' staples. Sides include customary vegetables. Bourbon pecan pie with vanilla ice cream is an indulgent conclusion.

Hits: Breakfast is not only available all day, but their elegant culinary twists to old morning favorites is unpretentious, satisfying and affordable.
Misses: The presentation of the grilled sirloin steak in red wine butter was tempting but the lack of flavor--a disappointment.

Fluffy French toast, strong rich coffee, crisp bacon and ice cold fresh fruit. Could you Nice clean, modern, café with a San Francisco city feel. Very nicely inside or out on the enclosed patio, and excellent service, The waiter suggested the pancakes as well… go on, give them a try, you may find yourself no longer waiting in line at the Breadwinners on weekends,

Pros: Great service, fair pricing, love the enclosed patio away from traffic and open to the sunshine

Cons: In an upcoming neighborhood, so try it out.

Wow, the ribs were amazing! And the potatoes, and the calamari appetizer and the steak my grandma had. I can’t say enough about this place. They advertise it as a casual affair, but I would say the food quality is less than casual. I NEVER expected my taste buds to explode with flavor like they did when I took my first bite of that rib. WOW. I am going back in the morning to try the omelets…………..

Pros: Amazing flavor to the dishes!

Cons: parking lot under construction, but they have valet too , you really need to try this place.
