Editorial Review for Lotus – by Sabra Girard
In Short
Zen with an edge; A glass lotus shaped chandelier hangs above an intimate and cushy corner. Plants made of metal, bedded by polished rocks are reflected in the opposing mirrored walls dawned with organic white images. The bar, covered in black Asian rock and marble is tucked to the side. Small green candles line wooden community tables and light the VIP interior or lush patio areas tended by attractive waitresses in shiny chic attire.

I went to this bar for a couple event/ fund-raising happy hours (when various associations rented out the patio) and decided to try it out on the weekend. Big mistake. I had a drink poured down my back ....and the doorman blamed me! Apparently, as the doorman explained it, the young girl ( who was stumbling all over the place) was his "friend" ..so...when I complained, I was asked to leave. Before that, the staff/doorman's rudeness was evident ..poor service and rude staff in general...why bother? This is not a place for young professionals. My advice to those looking for a good time in Uptown is : spend your money elsewhere-- stick to the places with good clientele and good service people: The MAT; State and Allen; TABC; Vino 100; The Quarter; and, The Loon (yes, The Loon)
Pros: Maybe a better place will open up in this space
Cons: Rudeness rules

WORST DOORMAN IN DALLAS. There was no line and the patio was half full...my boyfriend and I have purchased several bottles there but the doorman insisted we wait in the one-person line. we asked how long we would have to wait and he said "one person out, one person in." About 8 people walked out and he still told us to wait...and wait...and wait...i tried to walk in with the ONE GUY he let in in front of us, but he jumped in front of me and said "now you're GONNA wait." for a half full club at midnight on a saturday, this pompous and disrespectful creature obviously turned us and our friends off from ever returning to this sad little hole in the wall.
Cons: everyone working there
