Great Mexican food in Mesquite.
I searched on my phone's GPS for food and wanted the closest Mexican restaurant and found a gem! Me and my girlfriend were expecting to get something half decent that would merely hold us over until a real meal, but we were pleasantly surprised.
The service and food was great and one of the owners came and asked us how the food was! It was a personable experience and I appreciate the smaller non-chain restaurants that put in the time and effort that you just don't get from larger chains. By the way, if you don't ask for the homemade green and red sauce you are greatly missing out.

Unique, Delicious Mexican Cuisine.
We consider ourselves discriminating Mexican food afficionados, and the humble little Taqueria Hidalgo ranks among other, much more expensive restaurants that top our list for MARVELOUS, UNIQUE FLAVORS.
This is about as far from sloppy Tex-Mex as you can get. (I say this only to emphasize the uniqueness. We, too, enjoy a good Tex-Mex bloat every now and then.)
We order take-out and eat at home, or transport the feast to friends — the atmosphere at the restaurant is very plain (it's a converted Burger King). But don't let that stop you. Grab the grub and go! Wherever you drive from, it's worth the trip.
Try the Tostadas de Tingas, flautas and wide variety of tacos and burritos — try ANYTHING. If you appreciate flavor, flavor, flavor, you'll be back again and again.
