Excellent!. took a group of friends along with their 12 year old daughter. We all loved it! Great service, selectiom and knowledgable
Terrible Service - Very Unusual. Last night, I had a really bad experience at R&D Kitchen, and unfortunately, I was entertaining a client. The service was awful. The waitress did not get my order correct and did not bring several items to the table on a timely basis. There was a lack silverware even after our entrees came. She apologized and blamed it on the kitchen, even saying, "We're not even really busy." I blame it on her. If she wasn't THAT busy, why didn't she pay more attention to how her guests were being treated? The manager came over and apologized and offered to comp our meal. We said no, that was not necessary. They did take off one of the entrees, which was a nice consideration. However, I question whether R&D is on a decline, in general. The other thing i don't get it the attitude of the wait staff. They seem to be superior in every way and I really do not appreciate that kind of behavior. Makes me question whether I'll be back at all.
Great 1st experience. Hip Place !. tuna sand , sushi, salad..all very fresh..service and atmosphere is classy & hip. Reminds me of a Santa Monica cafe. I'll go back..busy and a little pricey but go anyway, it's worth it.
GREAT FOOD - GREAT SERVICE - My whole family loves Cafe R&D. We always get GREAT service and FANTASTIC food at Cafe R&D. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. I have had everything from the sushi, salads, fish, and the burgers. I haven't had anything that wasn't EXCELLENT. They have those awesome thin fries that the kids just devour. I think they have the best burger I have ever had (it comes pinker than most, but is delicious!)!! The place is small, so get there early.
A Great Experience. From the ambiance, friendly service, and food, Cafe R & D exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend and I made reservations for Friday night after we heard about this new Hot Spot. Upon arrival they were pretty busy, so we sat at the bar where the bartender greeted us immediately and had my delicious lemon drop martini in front of me before I could blink an eye. The hostess came about five minutes later, calling us by name to seat us on the patio which had comfortable seats and a nice coy pond. Our server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu and the history of the company? Did you know the ever so well-known Houston?s owns Cafe R & D? We order some sushi to start that was wrapped in a soy paper with shrimp served with great dipping sauces. For dinner my boyfriend and I shared the Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pan-fried Sea bass that melts in you mouth- both were impressive. I thought I was going to pop after dinner, but we proceeded to get the full effect and order the Banana Cream Pie that about knocked out socks off- it was so GOOD! Cafe R & D is Superb!
A Wonderful Lunch.. I took my mother in for an afternoon Mother's Day lunch and we both thought it was fabulous. The service was excellant and the food was outstanding. She had the Spinach & cheese omelet, which had goat cheese in the middle - YUM! I had the pan fried sea bass which came with a wonderful cole slaw and beautiful heirloom tomatoes with just the right amount of olive oil - OUTSTANDING. They had a great wine list by the glass and while we didn't have dessert they sounded great. Everyone was friendly and looked sharp. I would recommend to anyone and was so glad we tried it. Enjoy
EXCELLENT SERVICE!. The friendliness of the hostesses and servers far exceeds the majority of restaurants I've been to! Every one of them smiles, not just when it's tip time. The food is a bit expensive (I paid about $20 for a hamburger and ice tea) and the burger taste didnt match the cost! While I was there, however, I did see that a manager was getting little plates of taste food. They taste for quality before serving the meals, which I had never seen before, but think its a good policy!
The creator of celebrated Houston's restaurant brings a stylish yet comfortable lunch and dinner spot to central Dallas..
In Short
Cushy stools and a wall of windows that reveal the patio area surround an island bar. The chef's bar that overlooks the kitchen and dimly lit, cozy booths fill up fast. Eclectic art hangs on a cork wall and oversized bowls of shiny apples and wine corks are scattered throughout. The reubenesque and henri sandwich are served with succulent meats and fresh flavorful bread and salads are piled high.
