What People Are Saying About Fillmore Pub

In Short – The DART rail swooshes by just a few yards away from the Fillmore Pub while Plano denizens hunker down for beer and a meal. The large showroom has a casual vibe and basks in the glow of several plasma TVs. The large, mirrored bar serves upscale Belgian imports on tap as well as domestics. Groups gather at one of the booths and work their way through a "mixed bag" of a menu that includes pan seared pork tenderloin, fish and chips, burgers and sandwiches.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
The Fillmore is owned and operated by the same guys that brought you the Old Monk.
Save Money:
Nothing on the menu is priced over $11.

Great Place and Great Food

by Kevin Caldwell at Citysearch

I love this place....Great food and great service. The waitress are usuall easy on the eyes as well. Most of the people who come are in their 20-30's who are very friendly. My favorite place in downtown plano.

Great Little Pub

by sh1117 at Citysearch

I love this place for a relaxed, casual night with friends. The staff is always nice, and they have pretty prompt service even on busy nights. Inside, it's dim, on the smaller side, and the music isn't so loud that you can't talk to everyone at your table. The people that frequent the place are friendly and diverse- ages range from 21-30ish, business people, tattooed, hipsters, whatever. I like that the pub is pretty small, the bartenders and doorman remember your name, and you get to familiarize yourself with the habitual visitors. It's like a cooler, younger Cheers. Yay for a good bar being in Plano!

  • Pros: Great location and beer selection!!
  • Cons: Can get pretty crowded because it's small

tat daddies!!!

by joiseyshore at Citysearch

Well , it is really not as terrible or as great as the previous reviewers would imply. Fillmore is pretty average though. I moved here eight months ago from New Jersey and work in Richardson. I also live in Richardson on the advice of a corporate relocater but have spent those months on 75 at night going downtown to enjoy quality pubs. I wanted Fillmore to be great but once again , like growing up in Jersey , I look longingly across the bridges and tunnels, half way there, oh ooohhh living on a pray-er ( my lease is up in four months). It just doesnt have the vibe or authenticity or integrity of , for example, the old monk which it obviously emulates. However, when a jersey boy gets back to a local bar after a night in Manhatten he is nicely surprised by the prices, not so here ....same prices as downtown. I went on a slow evening and the bartender / manager / person behind bar not making drinks was so indifferent. My female friend said 'oh oh, look a tat-daddy", i didnt get it at first but now i see them everywhere, khakis, goaties, golf shirts, beer guts and a sleeve of tats that they flex when young women are around. Hilarious J. I mentioned politely that my guinness did not seem quite right but all tat-daddy did was tell me they have the best guinness in town and look away! overall though it is ok. i will come infrequently until gas hits $7 and may be a regular when it hits $12.

guess i was wrong.

whats wrong miata

by westmon at Citysearch

What a great place. Lived in Plano for years with nothing like this around. Always great food and the servers are as nice and knowledgeable as any I have ever seen. Sounds like this other fella was having a bad day!! I would find it hard to imagine any waitress asking a customer to pay the wrong tab on purpose, and I would expect a busy bar to be noisy late at night. Too old? Anyway, I highly recommend this place, and would probably keep coming back even if I got bad service.

Can not handle large groups

by crzybluemiata at Citysearch

Our Miata group started meeting there because of the location and nice big parking lot on the side - maybe most people don't realize there is parking beyond on the street. The atmosphere is nice. Food is good for what it is, prices not bad. HOWEVER, don't expect much service if you are in a group. Let me quote a member: "I won't be going back to Fillmore", when asked why, and you won't believe this..."I asked for my check at 10:15 got it at 11:00 and it was wrong" he told the waitress and her answer was a little unbelievable. She said that another staff person closed his tab and gave it to someone else, so she asked him to just pay this one (which was more than his should have been) as it would "sure help her out". When this came up on our forum, it turned out SEVERAL people were treated the same way - given wrong checks and asked to pay them "anyway". She also accused/said that one of the members left without paying and then guilted people into paying tabs that were not theirs. My thought is - this group doesn't arrive all at once. The wait staff has plenty of time between taking orders, and serving orders to be organized. The group is now looking for someplace else to meet each week. Other complaints were that it is noisy, our group sat at the big table in the middle of the pub and you can barely hear the person sitting next to you. Fillmore - you're losing some good business on an otherwise slow weeknight because your wait staff can not handle a large group. Check out Dallas Morning News' guidelive review as well - seems they too have a few issues with service. These other reviews must have been posted by friends or employees because they don't exactly tell the story straight.

  • Pros: Location, atmosphere, large parking lot on the side
  • Cons: Noisy, wait staff unorganized
