Good get away - food quality can vary – i have gone there several times. sometimes excellent and some not so, but nothing extreme. mostly the food is very good. the previous writer said the noodles were bad - what noodles??? what i like is the olives and the pita bread (when severed hot) and the different rice dishes. i like the desert. Coffee is good.
i will go back.
If this is what Galilee tastes like, I'd rather stay home! – We arrived to a fancy interior of overstuffed booths and ornate chandeliers, but were disappointed with the lack of flavor and bland fare offered in the disappointing buffet. We are rice lovers, so my friend and I put what seemed like fluffy rice with thin cellophane type noodles interspersed in it on our plates. To our great disappointment, the rice was crusty and the noodles were dry-as if it had sat out in the buffet container all day. Who can screw up rice? It's the basic fare offered in many types of cuisine and the main stay of my own personal diet.
The paste that was apparently hummus had the flavor of smoke and scalding. We had to place what was in our mouths out onto our napkins. I guess the cook left the mixture on the stove too long, or too much smoke flavoring was added. The spinach chicken dish tasted and had the consistency of canned spinach and dry chicken breast. No additional flavor what so ever. I wanted to taste garlic or something spicy and fragrant, but instead had a mouthful of canned spinach and dry chicken bits. The only thing resembling mediocre food was the fried dollops of fallafel. At least these were tasty treats filled with a few of the spices I yearned to taste in the other less than stellar dishes. I would have given this restaurant 2 stars instead of one, but the owner who rang us up would not accept the coupon we had brought with us. There was no restrictions listed on the coupon and we were within the expiration date-but he still would not honor it. I would beware of this practice and ask first if you can use your coupon before you eat there. The coupon may be a ploy to get you into the doors of what seems like an inviting place, but the quality of the food (or lack of quality) will NOT keep you coming back for more. If this is what Galilee tastes like, then I'd rather stay home!
Located right off Central Expressway in Plano, this Middle Eastern spot is a diamond in the rough. – The Scene
Comfortable black leather booths and banquettes line the dining area beneath mirror-lined walls. Extravagant chandeliers sparkle over large black and white checkered flooring. A buffet line twists its way around the far corner of the showroom as diners select from the finest Lebanese, Middle Eastern and Greek imports. Affable owner, Kasem (pronounced Kah-sem) Elkhaled can be seen moving from table-to-table answering any questions customers may have about the fantastic menu.
The buffet is broken into two parts: cold and hot. A plate of creamy hummus, baba ghannouj and some finely diced tabouleh leaves works very nicely with a yogurt sauce and piping hot pita bread. The warm options are plentiful and include kubbi (deep fried rolls stuffed with mashed lean meat, mince meat, pine nuts and and almonds), lightly grilled lamb gyro meat, stuffed grape leaves, cabbage rolls, falafel and manakeesh. Beef, lamb and chicken kebabs are all spectacular seections.
Hits: Forget stereotypical notions about small servings at Middle Eastern restaurants, for a very affordable price, portions are generous and you can return to the buffet at will.
Misses: There is no alcohol served and a glass of red or white would go very well with some of the foods.
