The Scene
A sculpted tree, radiant with bright white lights is positioned at the McKinney Avenue entrance. Lovely hostesses welcome guests into the cozy yet edgy space. Stark black tables lit by paper lanterns are positioned for a view of Uptown through a predominately glass wall. Strings of crystals hang from the ceiling to separate the dining area form the snug sushi bar accented by painted tiles. Techno beats maintain an energetic vibe as diners sip and eat from striking glassware.
The Food
Sushi appetites are whet with Soju Korean liquor among a generous selection of Saki. The Philadelphia role's a show stopper on the traditional sushi menu. Pot on Fire is a hot entree item with thin slices of rib eye prepared Korean barbecue style and complimented with tender noodles. Creative salads grant an alternative option and vegetarians are satisfied with tofu and vege stew with oyster sauce.
Hits: Sushi is creatively designed and impeccably prepared.
Misses: Parking on the street can be difficult and access to the valet is awkward, so opt for the lot in the back.

I had to write this review after having dinner at Gui today. This was my third time there and the service was a big disappointment each and every time. Alton was my waiter twice and he was very slow and forgetful but then I noticed the others are not as good either. The sushi buffet is a joke!! They tell you to only order 2-3 rolls at a time and when you wanted to order a second round the wait time is like another another. To have dinner there will take three hours and leaving still hungry. I believe they make their money selling drinks meanwhile making people wait for their sushi "buffet". You will probably drink more liquor there than you would be eating sushi and that is exactly what they want. The food is above average however the service is downright poor. I hope they get their act together before they will go out of business like the last restaurant there.
Pros: AVERAGE FOOD BUT WOULDN'T GO THERE AGAIN
Cons: SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE; THEY DON'T HAVE IT TOGETHER THERE.

I went on a date to this restaurant with beautiful lighted tree outside absolutely made it feel like I was in LA or NY or something, because the restaurant was like a little city with full of great staffs...Soon as we walked in, the staffs and the owner greeted us like we were their regulars, and that's all how it started.... Food, drinks, and service was ....OH MY GOD!!!! Amazing....We had tried couple of rolls and entree from the Korean menu...Tony almost made a menu for us...I completely trusted his recommendations and told him to bring me what's good there, and he did it way more than as if I had ordered myself...All the staffs were very friendly and all kept stopping by to see if we were okay. Gui was just a little better version of Teppo...Price was way less than what we got...We expected like over $200 for 2 people, but the bill was under$140... What I paid for was way more than worth...Highly recommended, and I will be there this Saturday... KEEP IT UP GUYS...YOU GUYS WiLL be Blast IN DALLAS....JUST KEEP IT UP!!! GOOD LUCK AND WE"LL SEE YOU GUYS THIS WEEKEND...
Pros: You'd know if you'd been there... 20 Thumbs up
Cons: Parking is little dificult...
