The Scene
Step off the busy sidewalk into to an intimate bar area for those who want to sip cocktails and people watch. A side staircase leads to a slender underground pub area where booths are packed with young guests and bookend bars are crowded with singles. A large fireplace warms the mood regardless of being lit.
The Food
Menu is designed for down home appetites with a flair for adventure. A raw platter of sliders, crab and shrimp is a fresh way to begin the meal or mini burgers for those who need a little burger satisfaction. Until the entrée such as the short rib grilled cheese is placed on the table, the pining for more appetizers is strong. To excite a potential bland side item, corn is prepared with to excited and items such as short rib grilled cheese sandwich makes mom's cookin' seem dismal.
Hits: The seemingly private underground pub area is a nice alternative ambiance to the showy dining-scene trends in Dallas.
Misses: Although the food is an overall exceptional, the steak was chewy and lacked flavor beyond the oils you could dip it in.

Went to social house last night with 6 friends. I used to go there when it was nikita and had great times so i wanted to check out the new establishment and all. They had karaoke so we sang and danced, were having a good time. Then i ordered 7 shots of flavored vodka and the bartender girl charged me 8 bucks per shot and $2 extra for red bbull on each one of them. I looked at the reciept and she even added 20% gratuity to it. So my bill came out to be $70 plus $14 gratuity for 7 shots. I asked her why she charged me for red bbull then she casually said, oh im sorry, ill change it. Then i questioned about the gratuity because even after she changed the total amount, the gratuity was still $14. i mean i also work at a bar and i have never added gratuity for drinks just because it was more than 6 people. Then she explained because we were a party of 7, she added the tips. I tried to explain that she needs to fix the amount because the total was different. Then she just threw the receipt and said, "you know what, just forget it and get the f** outta here" I was like.......WTF??? Then my friends came up to pay their tabs and she messed up the amount on their receipts as well. I tried to ask her what the heck is wrong with her, and she just kept saying, just get the f*** outta here. I started to lose my patience because she had no reason to yell or tell me to get out. Then she tried to get the barback to kick me out and the barback just shrugged and looked at me..how funny is that? Then my friend got really mad because she told him, "get your f***ing friend out of here!" So it kind of got out of control, she stormed out from the bar to follow us and screamed F this F that. The barback then really had to stop us screaming at each other. So i check my bank account and that drunk girl charged me twice! I am going to call the manager to complain and my friends and i will NEVER go back there.

How can you go wrong with a great meal and walk across the street for a movie at the Magnolia?? We had the sea bass and the 1" thick pork chop entree...........both were excellent. Nice surpirise to have mussels and shrimp adorn the sea bass. It is well worth the wait to seated on the sidewalk patio...feels like the river walk....great people watching spot. Altholugh this seems to be first a bar we really enjoyed the food. Only negative was that I thought the house wine was expensive for the choice...better off with the martini.

I was at Social House this past weekend and will never go back and will tell everyone I know never to go there. While waiting downstairs for a drink with a small crowd and slow service, the rude bartender continued to make things worse for the entire bar. The restrooms were blocked off by 2 or 3 large hispanic fellows and reserved only for friends of the same bartender. The thuggish restroom bouncers claimed the toilets were overflowing but this was a very apparent lie to all. The disgusting 1 single-occupany restroom upstairs gathered a long line because of this. Whoever owns this place needs to get some serious class, this was absolutely ridiculous.
