Exceeded my expectations! Great food!

by worldtraveler211 at Citysearch

I love Mediterranean food, and consider myself to be rather picky. Over the last few weeks I've heard Ephesus mentioned a few times, so I had to give it a try. Everything from A to Z was wonderful! They start with fresh bread and a free tomato dip that is to die for! We ordered the Adana (ground beef and lamb) and the Doner (gyro meat). Both of us were surprised at how great the food was. I was completely stuffed but wanted to eat more. We managed to save room to end our meal with Turkish coffee. The service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and there was lots of parking. You have to try this place!!!!

Delicious, authentic food

by TheOnlyShiraz at Citysearch

I ate there for the first time today with my mom, who had been there before and said it was really good. My father is Palestinian, so I grew up eating Mediterranean food and definitely know what's good and what's not. All the food is freshly prepared right there and all of it was great. Every table gets a big basket of bread - thick, hot, soft bread (not pita but similar) and you can have as much as you want! Every table ALSO gets a dish of their amazing sundried tomato dip. Don't be thinking "dip" like french onion or something, it's totally different - you know, mashed up fresh ingredients and olive oil - it has a pretty strong flavor and it is SO GOOD! I can't believe it's free, honestly. Trust me, everyone would buy it anyway if it weren't. And more often than not, at Mediterranean or Indian restaurants you have to buy the bread separately - like $2 or $2.50 a basket, you know? The hummus was delicious, and good hummus is pretty hard to come by. We were there about 4pm or a little after, (Saturday) and we were the only people in the restaurant, but they were completely booked for dinner, including three large parties they were setting up for, and they said lunch was packed at well. The service was AWESOME! Our waiter was sweet and attentive, and the owner came over and talked to us for a long time. I told him it was my mom's birthday, and he brought us some rice pudding on the house. This is the BEST rice pudding I have EVER had! Most of it is pretty much the same, but this was sooooo good, and it was a huge portion. He tried to bring us tea or coffee, and we declined but he mentioned some apple tea Turkish people commonly drink and checked to see if he had any and he did and he brought it to us. I DESPISE tea, but this was not like tea at all, it was yummy. The beef kabob was awesome, tender with that chargrilled flavour. I'm the type of person who picks apart every bite of meat because I can't stand any fat, and these I could just pop whole into my mouth!

  • Pros: service, $ value, delicious, authentic
  • Cons: NONE!

Fabulous!!!

by FoodLover75287 at Citysearch

Oh my! Ephesus is one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in years! The food was absolutely wonderful! The sun-dried tomato dip and home-made bread was fabulous. We had the Sultan's Delight & the Adana Kabob. Both were out of this world! I plan to go back soon and often. You *must* try this place!

best Turkish food in DFW!

by picki1 at Citysearch

I am very particular when it comes to food. Whenever I travel, I always try to visit a Turkish restaurant. I am not turkish, but I love turkish food. I think it's one of the best tasting cuisines ever. The food is like a celebration of some sort. It's my ultimate comfort food.

I've been to Cafe Istanbul on Lovers Lane a few years back, but I think Ephesus is better. Their service is amazing. They go out of their way to please their patrons. I went there with my friends, who have never had turkish food before. They started us off with a sun-dried tomato dip and their own home-made bread. The dip is so delicious, I could just it it as a meal. Every day.

When our entrees came, we tasted each other's dishes and every one of them was as succulent as it looked. So full of flavor, just the right combination of spices, cooked to perfection. My friend said that it was very obvious they put a lot of effort into their food. I am so happy they finally opened a turkish restaurant right here in Plano, and what a restaurant it is! I absolutely love it!!!

  • Pros: Location, service, do I have to mention food?
  • Cons: none
